beamon is correct...  You have  potential confirmation bias from the buyer's side,  and potential quid pro quo bias from the professional reviewer side.  There are some buyers that are able to get past this type of bias, and some professional reviewers that are able to get past their own bias...  And if you don't think that is possible, then forums like this one when reviewing products are basically worthless, and you shouldn't be here anyway.

Since we're not talking about shutting down the forums for fear of bias that comes with any reviewer, It may be good to hear more about the actual product itself, and from those who have used it.  The rest is distraction and off-topic.

I do have to say, the razor looks cool and unique! Thank you, TheCleanShaver  for your review, thoughts, and videos about this razor...  And without this thread, I would not have even known about it.  Hopefully other people will try it out, and give their thoughts here.  And in comparing several different reviews from many different people,  that kind of metadata all combined will help to filter out any sort of potential individual type bias.  This is a nice start to this process for a new product! Smile

Now, with all the above said by all the respondents, I LOVE the YouTube videos about a whole host of subjects. Not the least of which are the wet shaving related videos. TheCleanShaver, along with several others produce reviews that I watch with great interest. Well illuminated, sharply focused and easily understood, they are a treat and informative as they can be. I watch a couple almost every day. This one has me chasing down the web site and seriously considering the Hone Type 15!

Thanks everyone for your discussion and feedback. I won't pretend to be unbiased in this review. Though I'm not being paid for it, I did receive the razor for free. However, to validate my opinion further, I will be sending it on to a few close shaving friends to get their thoughts as well. I enjoy reviewing products and really strive to withhold bias as much as possible. I value my integrity, just as I value all of your viewership and feedback. Here's looking forward to some more reviews in the future!
Oh, and beamon, the website is www.hone-shaving.com. I can't recommend them highly enough. Andrew, the maker, has been very responsive to any and all communication. If you buy one, you hear from him directly and frequently. He's very interested in people's opinions about his product.
Thanks!

Someone asked for these decomposed shots in another forum. Thought you all might like to see them here.

The razor reminds of the Standard Razor only made of brass which is much easier to machine then stainless steel. Where is the Hone made?

It's manufactured in the Netherlands.

I remember Andrew and the Hone razor from his Kickstarter campaign last year https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/and...fety-razor. I think the design looks great and the choice of metal is perfect. But the cost of the razor was going to be nearly $200 (£130 to be exact). I think that is more than pretty steep for a razor made of a metal that costs less to machine than stainless, yet costs more than stainless. Now I do own razors that I paid more than 200.00 for, and I would gladly pay it again because I see value. So I'm not saying that $200 for a razor is ridiculous, I am saying that I hope this new version is less than that. I may be way off on my estimation of the cost of this razor and perhaps someone will enlighten me, but last time I machined a part, it was in bronze, and it was cheaper to buy and faster to cut than stainless.

Also, I was turned off by the video of Andrew with a beard explaining his razor. He has a beard! He has a beard in a video trying to entice buyers to buy a device to remove beards! It's like if I was to do a commercial for a stain remover for clothes but I show up with my own clothes full of stains all over them.

I'm skeptical but I still got on the list on the website. Having choices is a good thing.

I totally agree. A lot of products manufactured in Europe tend to be more expensive.
