Soap: Grooming Dept. Cedarwood
Aftershave: Thayers Rose Witchhazel
Blade: Nacet
Good Morning Forum Friends (or good afternoon for you easterners).
Had almost 3 days growth so went with the big gun Wolfman for today’s shave.
With the last shave I tried Grooming Dept’s cheapest soap formula (Fortis), so today I tried their most expensive (Nai) which is Vegan as opposed to Tallow like the Fortis formula. A new tub of this soap is a whopping $32 for 4 oz. Fortis is $17 for 5 oz. Thankfully I didn’t (and wouldn’t) pay anything close to $32! I snagged this the other day on the BST.
The scent was pretty light and was a warm cedar with a hint of some other note that almost seemed like liquorish. I think I would have just preferred the straight-up Cedar note.
Performance was good, but hard to say it was better than the budget Fortus formula. It did seem a hair slicker and maybe better residual slickness... but just barely. Post shave seems worse than Fortis on my skin (could be the lack of tallow?)
Anyways, it was a fun experiment. Personally, I would not pay double the price for Nai formula over the Fortis formula.
