Threads would be better for longer if responses were kept relevant, and people didn't try so hard to circumvent rules with obscure grammar and references that just barely scrape above the surface of "against the rules".

Too many responses making thinly veiled political and social accusations, instead of discussing traditional gear and techniques with polite honesty and candor...

I'm all about free press and free speech, and socio-political involvement. Not on this forum. Not the proper time, not the proper place, no matter how arrogantly your opinion is stated, nor how cleverly you believe it to be disguised...

[edited to add]Yes...it should matter. It should matter to different degrees for different individuals based on our OWN personal biases. Even horribly written and clearly non-objective reviews can be beneficial in helping a person make an informed decision...

I think there is a place for everyone's opinion. If it's not to your taste or you hold a different opinion, simply state it without animus or move elsewhere.  How difficult is that?

As long as rules are followed, I agree 1000%.

The caveat being that I should not have to continue to "scroll by" posts and replies that barely pass mustre and constantly tread the thin line between acceptable and unacceptable.

It has less to do with a difference of opinion than it does with respect for the rules...

Why not? You're not a MOD. Let them deal with the improprieties. It's not your or my job. Sometimes it's better to leave things alone and not get baited,
which, if I may respectfully say, you tend to do. Please don't be offended, it is just my observation.

This thread is coming very close to being closed. Primo, sadly, common sense should, but doesn't always, prevail. Either this thread gets back to its original intent or it's history. Three warnings are more than enough.

No offense taken, nor intended. This is a polite discussion...

You're correct..I am rather easily baited. It's my disdain for disrespect. I can't sit idly by and watch someone disrespect large groups of the general population, other members of this forum, nor the rules(and thereby the mods, who are members of this forum.) Speaking up has gotten me in hot water in the past. Evidently I have not yet learned to avoid being burned. At my age, I doubt I ever will. C'est la vie...

With that said...should I, as a rule-abiding member be required to sift through drivel and disrespectful posts simply because 1 or 2 members feel as though the rules are non-applicable to them? Is it fair to the other ~650 regularly active members here that DO follow ALL the rules, even the ones we don't like, to be forced to ignore a few individuals that seem incapable of playing BY the rules?

That's why I speak up...within the rules. These folks do not deserve the special treatment that they are forcing ALL of us to give them...and their posts are not nearly as insightful or profound as they seemingly believe them to be...

I'm afraid some have nothing to contribute and like saying irrelevant things, destroying the discussion for others that want to participate.

I don't know why they even make a post when they having nothing to say.

Sadly BadDad disrespect for rules seems to be the curse of the modern age. There's even commercials encouraging it - I think it was a Lexus commercial that said that rules were for other people, not the obviously superior Lexus driver. Rules be they big or little are what allows humans to more or less peacefully co-exist. Without common courtesy we'd be at each others throats. Road rage for example - most instances didn't start with some crazy hot head but rather with a simple lack of courtesy, neglecting to use the signal light when changing lanes, not making room on a merge, or just generally discourteous driving. Eventually some people snap. Thats why please and thank you, holding doors, good morning, how are you and the like are so important. Without rules and common courtesies we're really just savages looking for an opportunity to tear each other's throats out and while that may satisfy one's momentary blood lust its really no way to run a civil society or a shaving forum. The rules here are short and sweet. If a person doesn't like them then they should move on to a forum with rules more to their tastes.

I hear your response. I understand your point of view.
To the OP, apologies for the mega-usurping of your thread. If Amazon is any comparison, vis-a-vis legitimate reviews, I will only read reviews from verified purchasers of the product in question, so to me, it ABSOLUTELY matters. Side note: I have long since eschewed YouTube "reviews" of ANY shaving product. I see what is getting used repeatedly on this and other Fora. Ask appropriate questions of the members, etc. Then at least if you choose to purchase a product, you will have a modicum of information to make an intelligent decision.

You could always click the option to hide the posts made by that person or persons that you don't want to see or sift through. Problem solved.
