Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
My vintage Gillette week continues.
From earlier this week, the Steampunk birth-quarter (J-4) had the duty for the work day shaves. Set at 7 with a NOS Personna PtCr blade, it proved great shaves.

And for the weekend days off of work, I am using my "shave year" (1979) black handle Super Speed. I call it Shave Year as it is from the year I most likely started shaving, but I didn't use a DE but instead we all got free Trac II razors in the mail. Shortly thereafter, I switched to an Atra (maybe it was the mailed razor? I wasn't keeping a journal then so I have no records  Tongue ). Continuing the Personna PtCr and the Shannon's Nil. The Donut of Destruction has been reformed into a small patty/puck for ease of loading. The brush conintues to be the apshaveco Ocean Waves with the Titanium 26mm knot. Like the G5A, this knot seems to perform better with a soak like a boar brush would get! And I am really warminng up to it as it seems to be breaking in. I know, I know: synthetics need neither soaking nor breaking in. But I tell you, it really seems to make a difference.

Stay well and be kind, my friends!

The Blackland Razors Sabre is an amazing razor. I borrowed one from our Kentucky friend and promptly ordered the complete set up for myself! The Sabre with the Level 2 plate provides a long-lasting close shave for my long work days, and the Level 1 plate is perfect for a super relaxed and comfortable shave on a day off. Because of this, the Sabre was my gateway razor into vintage GEM razors, again with help from Dave in KY, and finding a whole new rabbit hole to explore! Tomorrow will be the last scheduled day for the Sabre for my Modern May fun, but I have the Vector and the Era scheduled later in the month!

I hope you have time to relax occasionally. Starting a new job, even if it’s an old job, is always a bit stressful. I recommend shaving to calm yours mind.

A nice package from HC&C Pete123  arrived yesterday and I used some of it today. Dave in KY had done a review of the way cool adapter for the Enders Speed Shaver, so I ordered it, and then decided to try the unscented soap and lotion. A tuck of blades was included, and platinum chrome blades are amongst my favorites.

The unscented soap, besides looking cool with that steampunky sci-fi horror look, provided a luxurious lather! and the blade felt wonderful in my Karve with baseplate B. I am excited to use this combo for the next few days.

Took a break (sort of) from Modern May and used a vintage razor that Freddie kindly touched up the lettering on. The Enders Speed Shaver looks futuristic in that 40s-vibe way, so I decided that it would work well for Modern May. And I really wanted to use a cool blade adapter that Dave did a video on recently. I liked what I saw in his review so I ordered the mild version and couldn't be happier!

Here is a photo of the very neat blade holder/adapter from HC&C Pete123 has available on the Hendrix Classics website.

The blade is held in place by...

(the original cast on Stargate SG-1 were my favorites! Richard Dean Anderson's portrayal of O'Neill often had me laughing, as he was allowed such an irreverent attitude!)

Yup, this is the real deal! I used Schick Proline a B-20 blade and it snapped right onto the holder.

And here is a shot where you can see what the assembly looks like and you can see the Magnets! too.

The shave was exactly as I like it, the mild adapter/holder being just right for me. And while I tend to prefer mild and efficient, I am thinking I should get the next level as well, as I know that this adapter/holder is so unique and I may like the next level up, too!

Well this is a first for me: I have lost or misplaced a soap! Or I PIF'd it and forgot!
