I was told it could be 2-3 weeks or more before I move to the closer to home store, and figured there would be a "hold in place" while another RPh was found to take my spot, then move us all at once, as the company has done before. Much to surprise and pleasure, it will be in 2 weeks, so next Monday! I found out Thursday when another RPh called me, saying she was being nosy but noticed that she was scheduled to cover my shifts that week and noted that I was working in a different store. (She is a regional support pharmacist, like I was, and gets scheduled wherever needed.) That is how I found out. I checked with my store manager, and he says, yes, you got the email, right? Then he checks, laughs, and tells me that the person most needing to know this (me) wasn't on the email!! All good, my wife and I are excited, and the current staff is mostly happy for me with only one making little jabbing comments about "abandoning" them. Boo hoo. She says in good humor (I think?) but it gets old fast, and awkward.
I have been a shave creature of habit, opting for a 5-10 day mostly fixed 4, as I find it makes my morning simpler on work days. However, this month I decided to shave like many on the forums and pick mostly whatever floats my boat that day! I will keep the soap constant, just because I like a little consistency and I am enjoying the fun of a different razor and brush in the morning.
Today was my replated (BRG) pre-War Tech and I had a wonderful shave with it. Prior to buying the Karve Christopher Bradley razor, this Tech and my birth-quarter Slim were my main razors. Amazingly, I did not poke or nick myself with the blade tabs! That used to happen a lot and it one of the reasons I so enjoy the OL and the Yates 921, as they have covered the blade tabs. User error, I know, but it was a beautiful shave with that shiny (BRG) replated Tech! Soap was still Mike's Unscented, and the brush was an APSCo 2BED 26mm fan knot in the Trotter Messier handle. That fan looks "yuge," like a 28mm, but what a great latherer.
Hope those that celebrate it have a great Easter!

Last shift today at the Augusta location, then 5 days off as a mini vacation I had already planned. The managers are doing some sort of lunch for me/pharmacy at our designated lunch time. I was asked what kind of cake I like, and I got bold and said Pie. Maine blueberry or apple. We'll see

And then there was pie!! It was a very nice lunch with the store manager, my RPh partner, and all of our techs. Too much desert, but very touched by the cards and well wishes.

Awesome, if they didn't have pie, I was going to refuse to go there with my prescriptions

Because I have been using whatever razor and brush call out to me, I haven't been posting about my shaves. To kind of remedy that, here is a summary of the last few shaves.
Karve Overlander, nickel plated brass. This is my benchmark razor. Absolutely love it, and with a tweak (shorter Gladius handle), it is outstanding. So much so that I decided to treat myself to a new Overlander, and went for a stainless steel version with a shorter handle. No idea when it will arrive, as the website states it needs "Work Required." According to the info box, this means a lead time to make/finish the order. I enjoy my Karve razors, so I can wait.
Vintage Gillette razors: Tech, Slim, NEW long comb. These have been giving some great shaves, too. I girded up my loins (i.e, put on my big boy pants!) and turned the Slim up to 7 and had a great shave. In the past, 6 was max for me, as I found it too aggressive for a full shave. But over the years I have read some posts that claim the razor smooths out at higher settings. And I experienced a comfortable shave for 3 passes when I set it to 7.
Per the mention of treating myself above, I will admit falling off the restraint wagon in a big way. The new position at a local pharmacy really has my wife and I excited, and as it comes with a pay increase (not a raise, but increased work hours hence bigger paycheck), I opted to indulge in some spending. Most of it on our BST and one other BST. And two purchases to help support the economy of our northern neighbor!
I have received a beautiful blue/white Ocean Waves APSCo handle (BST) and ordered a new Titanium knot for it. I found a NIB Blackland Era with the Level 5 safety bar and have enjoyed a shave with it. And the big ticket item is nostalgic and sentimental.
My father went off to college in 1958. He bought himself a new $1.95 Gillette adjustable, and that Fatboy sat under our bathroom sink for decades. Up until I started shaving traditionally, then it went AWOL. Dad has no idea what happened to it. He wanted to give it to me as he knows how much I enjoy shaving now. Recently, a Back Roads Gold rhodium replated Fatboy appeared. I debated for 3 days, making myself really think about it. I have owned and sold at least 3 Fatboys. I have not been a fan of the big head and found I preferred my Slim so much more. But this one is the one Dad would have bought. He bought one in '58, the year they were introduced. The one I was looking at was a D-3, which would line up with what could have been on the shelf when he was preparing to head to school that fall. When the razor had a price drop and still no takers, I decided to add it to my razor collection. I know this isn't Dad's razor, and I know I may not like it any more as a shaver than the previous ones, but I was feeling in a sentimental mood!
I will most likely post some photos as things arrive and see some use. thanks for reading!
