REX Ambassador Update

Just finished my first shave with the Rex. More aggressive than my 1956 Red Tip but also more efficient (on setting #3) and with a new Astra SP blade. Got over confident with it due to the smoothness of the shave and had some minor irritation. Technique is so important! When will I learn? Anyway, I received a BBS shave in 3 passes (even under my chin which is very difficult. No problems with the adjustment ring moving during the shave. And the handle is so "grippy". The knurling is the best I've ever experienced. I will weigh in again after a few more shaves with this razor but so far so good.

What is it like on the mildest setting? Preferably with a sharp blade such as Personna Red or a new Feather.

Razor Emporium have you guys considered putting out a polished version?

I would totally be down for that. I took it to a local polish place and they were not comfortable disassembling the razor. Perhaps you can sell the razor unassembled, have a user polish it and send it back for assembly.

I've been testing some new DE's that have just arrived and I already have withdrawal symptoms for my REX. I miss it. I promised myself though that next shave I'll put a new feather, use my best HFD brush and enjoy.

So I wanted to update you guys about some of the changes to the Ambassador.

• For 2018, we have so far released almost 300 of the N1 razors as of this week. So far we have seen 0 come back for canting / dial moving issues. Only 3 for dial seized (a result of thread lock liquid migrating from handle to just under dial. In all 3 cases I was able to solve it with warm water alone. We are contemplating dropping the use of thread lock all together but that's a story for another day...)

I had what was the most comfortable and smooth 3 pass BBS shave ever (for me). Hot shower prep, Noxema preshave, Stirling Soap (Baker Street), Ever-Ready #750 w/ Golden Nib Premium Badger knot, Reax Ambassador w/Astra SP on setting just a tick above number 2.5. Alum stone and Proraso aftershave. This razor is a marvel for me. I haven't yet taken it down to setting #1. At setting #2.5 it was pretty mild for me. I have sensitive skin. I will try it tomorrow on a lower setting but I imagine #1 would be very mild...maybe too mild for me. We shall see.

GloryUprising I don't want to make any promises but we are currently working on this exact thing. However I am trying to avoid having it hand polished (that would be a last ditch effort - our shop is slammed enough with polishing Gillette razors for revamp) so instead we are experimenting with electro-chemical polishing since we already have a lab in our shop. If these experiments and a subsequent production process gets further along I will certainly let people know.

Thanks for the update. It's very inserting to see how a product progresses. I got mine a week or two ago, and love it. I've been experimenting with different blades for the past week, and haven't found a blade it doesn't like.

I have heard this a lot and I do like that it serves as a great "auditioner" for blades. It lets their characteristics shine through.

Awsome.

Not sure if you remember, but I was I that initial release batch that tried to get rhodium plating... Didn't take.

Hope you make progress on that front. Please keep me posted!
