Thanks for the update. It's very inserting to see how a product progresses. I got mine a week or two ago, and love it. I've been experimenting with different blades for the past week, and haven't found a blade it doesn't like.

I’m still not sure I’ll spend over $200 on a razor, (current most expensive is my Rockwell 6S) but if I do it’ll be the Ambassador. It’s a work of art.

Indeed the Rex is a work of art. I sometimes take it out of the box just to admire it. For me the 6S@6 is inefficient but the Rex@6 is just right. I use all my DE's with a Feather Polsilver ot Personna 74.

That's why we proposed the group buy idea, this way we can see the discount offered depending on how many pieces are ordered

Btw, I’ve seen other thread(s) complaining that there was no presentation-quality box. I disagree.

First of all, “free” or not, the cost of the box goes into the price. Bringing the price down matters more to me than adding extras.

Second, I don’t need or want some bulky box that I would need to store in case I ever want to sell/trade. I don’t shave with the box.

This looks like one fantastic twist adjustable razor, with exceptional engineering and backing by the man who created it. In addition to my RR 6C, I have two twist adjustables in my rotation, a Merkur Futur clone and a Merkur Progress (all of which I like and use). Sorry, I do not own any vintage Gillette's or other collectables.
Question: How does the Ambassador compare with the Merkur Futur and the Merkur Progress in ease of use, efficiency and smoothness? I understand that this razor is a functional work of art and has collectable value. I just wondered how it shaves compared to other adjustables! I would also be interested in the group buy. Thanks for the feedback.

Got my Rex Ambassador today. All I can say is WOW! The quality/fit and finish is definitely on a par with or better than my other artisan made razors (ATT SE1 and OneBlade Genesis V2). Haven't shaved with it yet but tomorrow I will. Love the tactile feel of it and the overall heft. The adjustment ring seems to require enough torque so as not to be a problem with unintended adjustment changes during the shave. The lack of a presentation grade box is not a concern to me but if I wanted to get one I'm sure I could find something to fit the bill.

Just finished my first shave with the Rex. More aggressive than my 1956 Red Tip but also more efficient (on setting #3) and with a new Astra SP blade. Got over confident with it due to the smoothness of the shave and had some minor irritation. Technique is so important! When will I learn? Anyway, I received a BBS shave in 3 passes (even under my chin which is very difficult. No problems with the adjustment ring moving during the shave. And the handle is so "grippy". The knurling is the best I've ever experienced. I will weigh in again after a few more shaves with this razor but so far so good.

The REX has all the right combinations and it's a great razor and a must for all DE shavers. It's not as smooth or as efficient on 6 as the 17-4,( the razor I judge all others by ), on the other hand though, it delivers the same BBS shave with less attention which works for me. For me again and YMMV, it's better than all the vintage adjustables including the Gibbs No.17. It's smooth enough and efficient enough at the same time. Where it excels is on the adjustability. I like to start on 6 for the first pass and then go down to 4.5 for the rest which gives me the freedom not to be on the alert all the time, like I have to be with the 17-4. It's my most frequently go to razor and having also backed the T and expecting it, I don't see how it will be better than the REX as the head is bulkier so more difficult in the nose area.
