Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

Yep. Absolutely spot on.
I'm fairly new to the wetshaving world but have done enough research, reading, and video watching to know that a large part of it is about unobtainable's, collectibles, and the acquisition of high priced items that present the intangible feel of 'Niche' status.
With this razor not being in the 'Niche' price range, I reckon it may be overlooked or hard to accept that it's on par with others that are 3 times its cost. Strange outlook, I know but I just have this feeling. lol

I plan on buying a second one myself so I can try another handle length and plate.

Another fantastic shave today with the Karve armed with the F guard plate. Just an incredibly efficient and relatively smooth shaver that left me with my jaw dropping to the sink and faceturbating constantly. Light touch, good, smooth consistent strokes and this razor leaves no doubt that it wants to be your top of the shelf shaver on a daily basis. To be honest, it’s putting up a good argument with superb results backing it up.

If your a fan of the R41, Ikon Tech, PAA DOC SS, Blackbird SB/OC and any of the more efficient razors from the big boys such as Timeless, Charcoal Goods, Wolfman and the like, this razor is a must on the razor bucket list. I know, there are those that can’t stand the smell of Brass and the reaction to their skin types, that’s a given. But seriously, the Karve stands tall with all of the razors mentioned above. And if we were to talk $$$ to performance ratio, the Karve smokes all of them, hands down. End of discussion, I’m done here........

I’d like to add another point. There are quite a few gents here that have also shaved with the Karve with the various plates, that I hold in high regards when it comes to their shave perception and opinion on a particular razor. Some of these gents also have some of these aforementioned higher end razors that perform at the highest level of shave beard reduction. I will not dispute with those individuals when they state that their BBS-1, Paradigm, Wolfman, Charcoal Goods, Blackbird and Timeless razors shave a fraction of a bit better than their Karve. I would have to concede to them in that respect as I do not own any of them except for the Blackbird.

Nevertheless, there would have to a realization that the cost to performance ratio of said razors compared to the Karve is a serious point that all must consider and weigh in on. It matches all of them in fitment, precision and quality. And according to some, it’s just a hair behind to some on efficiency and smoothness to the heavy hitters. Even though we all love to split hairs here and champion each our own specific “best razor”, I honestly believe the Karve razor, in my limited use with it so far (10-12 shaves) has got to be the best modern DE Shaving system for the $$$. Again, it’s just my humble opinion.

I have a few of those razors and I have to say that the price point of the Karve was what drew me to it in the first place. But the Karve is viewed equally with them based on shave performance, I will say I believe some of them shave better (one in particular) but they are unobtainable for most, and my opinion is just that my opinion

My point exactly. I can’t make a direct comparison for I own only one of all those mentioned, and a couple of them are Unobtanium for the most part. As you stated, price drew you in, yet your opinion is still that there is one that might shave better. That’s where I jump off because I can’t sustain a debate for or against. And as I stated before, I respectfully concede to those, such as yourself that have owned and shaved with the various razors and can come to somewhat of a better conclusion/opinion than I can..... Happy shaves.

I have or had many of those high end razors and I agree with you gentleman I really enjoy my F plate on a 3” handle, it is part of my regular rotation. I have said and still feel that the Karve is the best bang for your buck of any razor I have.. ( The Dart if you like blade feel is right there too) The handle is one of my favorites.

I have the Blackbird OC, ATT M2 & R2, Wolfman OC, Rex Ambassador, and a Karve F plate. The Karve shaves as good as any of them. I like having them all because they all offer a different experience and add a little variety. I’m not really into different brushes since I bowl lather or soaps because I can only use unscented, so I like to use different razors. I don’t feel the need to rank them because I enjoy all of them and my preferences seem to change on occasion, so my favorite now might not be my favorite next month.

I don’t think it’s as good as a few others but it’s the one of the best budget razors out there. I can bring it along on vacation without tripping out too hard if it were to get stolen or damaged.

I would also like to add that among all contemporary DE razors (unfortunately none of the vintage DEs worked out for me) that I tried so far (including BBS1s, Wolfman, Paradigm Ti I, Weber, Charcoalgoods, Blackbird, Dart) My Karve razors with the E and F plates are next to my all time favorite- Blackbird First Gen.

I have the Karve, along with the “B-“D” plates.

Just a few shaves in with a couple different blades, and all of the plates tried. My skin and beard type, while thick and coarse in areas, doesn’t need the extra aggressiveness of the other plates.

As one would expect, the shaves are progressively more efficient (and a bit less smooth) as I use the more aggressive plates.

The Karve is clearly an exceptionally well-made razor, and it’s price point belies it’s quality.

I’m still evaluating it though, and I may offer a more experienced opinion at a later time.

A couple observations on the comparisons to pricey competitors.

Brass is both inexpensive and easy to machine, so, cost can be less than razors made from other materials. Personally, I prefer polished stainless when that’s available.

Second, it seems any razor using a system of plates will be more popular, simply because it’s easier for us to customize our fit.

With other razors, especially the famed “artisan” models in more expensive materials, variations are limited. So, if I select a Paradigm 17-4, for example, I get what it can provide, and that’s all. Different blade choices can modify things somewhat, but probably not as much as a whole different plate/blade gap size does.

I am also finding that it’s not always easy to learn the ways of a new razor. They seem to have their own personalities, and time and patience not only tames them...but also increases my shaving skill (such as it is), and enjoyment. It’s been that way for most of the gear I have, and so far, my efforts are being rewarded with consistently better results over time.

As for me, I’m digging collecting all of the razors I have, even if they’re expensive or aren’t used every day. I will enjoy them in rotation and admire their beauty as they await their next turn...

Has there been any feedback a possible stainless steel version while I’m enjoying using my Karve brass version

Is there a long waiting period between ordering the razor and delivery of said razor? Patience is not one of my few virtues, unfortunately.

You’ll get it faster if you order one and wait than you will if you don’t order it at all.

I’m not sure what the wait is, but I think it took me about 5 weeks to get mine.
