Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

Since you mentioned the Rex what would be comparable setting numbers on the Rex, in your opinion vs which plate on the karve ?

Well, I only have plates C-F and ime plate C is equivalent to the Rex in settings 2.5-3. The D plate falls between just past 3-4 on the Rex. Plate E is Just past 4 to 5 on the Rex. Then plate F is about a little past 5 to 6 on the Rex. I’ve never tried the Rex at max 6.5 yet but, I will be in the near future. Take this with a grain of salt as everyone’s perceptions can vary when it comes to a razors shave and feel especially in direct comparisons.

Alright thanks, I was getting an opportunity to try the Rex in a few weeks also I was kind of curious not owning either one how they stacked up.

The Rex on 6.5 is in the wheelhouse with the Dart. I did a side-by-side with them today. The Dart might be a 7 on blade feel if the Rex went that high, but it’s close. It really depends on what part of my face I’m shaving.

What’s interesting about that is, Dart has the least gap of the three, and Karve has the most. I don’t have the F plate yet, but even the E plate has more gap than Rex at 6.5, which in turn has more than Dart. You don’t need a feeler gauge to see it either. Clear illustration that gap isn’t everything, and gets way too much attention.

That is interesting, I wonder what about exposure as they call it? And interesting to see which one of those actually works out the best for you that's good information. All of you guys that's good information

One of my favorite razors with the F plate.

Gap is only applicable if everything else stays identical.

For example the gap certainly has a huge effect on the shave of a WR1. But from one razor to the other it’s a fools errand to use as a barometer of aggressiveness or what have you. I see why some folks don’t release gap numbers as it’s largely useless data

Another fantastic shave today with the Karve armed with the F guard plate. Just an incredibly efficient and relatively smooth shaver that left me with my jaw dropping to the sink and faceturbating constantly. Light touch, good, smooth consistent strokes and this razor leaves no doubt that it wants to be your top of the shelf shaver on a daily basis. To be honest, it’s putting up a good argument with superb results backing it up.

If your a fan of the R41, Ikon Tech, PAA DOC SS, Blackbird SB/OC and any of the more efficient razors from the big boys such as Timeless, Charcoal Goods, Wolfman and the like, this razor is a must on the razor bucket list. I know, there are those that can’t stand the smell of Brass and the reaction to their skin types, that’s a given. But seriously, the Karve stands tall with all of the razors mentioned above. And if we were to talk $$$ to performance ratio, the Karve smokes all of them, hands down. End of discussion, I’m done here........

I'm fairly new to the wetshaving world but have done enough research, reading, and video watching to know that a large part of it is about unobtainable's, collectibles, and the acquisition of high priced items that present the intangible feel of 'Niche' status.
With this razor not being in the 'Niche' price range, I reckon it may be overlooked or hard to accept that it's on par with others that are 3 times its cost. Strange outlook, I know but I just have this feeling. lol

I plan on buying a second one myself so I can try another handle length and plate.

I’d like to add another point. There are quite a few gents here that have also shaved with the Karve with the various plates, that I hold in high regards when it comes to their shave perception and opinion on a particular razor. Some of these gents also have some of these aforementioned higher end razors that perform at the highest level of shave beard reduction. I will not dispute with those individuals when they state that their BBS-1, Paradigm, Wolfman, Charcoal Goods, Blackbird and Timeless razors shave a fraction of a bit better than their Karve. I would have to concede to them in that respect as I do not own any of them except for the Blackbird.

Nevertheless, there would have to be a realization that the cost to performance ratio of said razors compared to the Karve is a serious point that all must consider and weigh in on. It matches all of them in fitment, precision and quality.  And according to some, it’s just a hair behind to some on efficiency and smoothness to the heavy hitters. Even though we all love to split hairs here and champion each our own specific “best razor”, I honestly believe the Karve razor, in my limited use with it so far (10-12 shaves) has got to be the best modern DE Shaving system for the $$$. Again, it’s just my humble opinion.
