For me smoothness is describing the feeling of the razor across my face, ie very little blade feel, no tugging or skipping. for me the scale is very smooth to very aggressive. Efficiency is how well the whiskers are removed after a traditional 3 pass shave, ie do I need to do a lot of buffing and cleanup. With that in mind the Karve on plate D is in the middle of smooth to aggressive, I definitely feel the blade more so than the Timeless .95 and significantly more than the Paradigm17-4.
Efficiency The Paradigm and the .95 are equally efficient or very close. The Karve was not quite as efficient but for me the angle of the shave did not just fall into my natural shave angle so I am playing with it. My second shave with it was several steps better than my first try. Hope this helps.

Just received my Karve Razor, and my first impressions are positive. I went with the D Plate and 3.5” Handle. The Razor is very well finished, and the knurling on the Handle feels great in hand. This Razor would look outstanding with a Polished finish! Going to Shave with it this evening, hopefully it will Shave as nice as it looks! If not, the Paradigm 17-4 is going to be purchased tomorrow!

I don't think you will be disappointed. The D plate is outstanding speaking from experience.

So first shave. Started with the B plate. I’d say that it’s a mild razor. I did have more growth than usual. It allowed a lot of touch ups with no irritation and end result was DFS. I am looking forward to the C and D plates probably more my liking

Thanks to all who posted their thoughts on this razor, I purchased one yesterday with 3.5 handle and the C+D base plates.

Just one question, how long after ordering did it take to ship? And yes I wouldn't expect it to ship until January because of the holidays.

I ordered before they were supposed to ship and it shipped a few days after they were supposed to start shipping and I ordered pretty late
