While I don't have too much trouble, I have, on occasion, had those protrusions snag on my earring.  That problem goes away when the protrusions are covered, as they are in many, though not all, of my razors.  If I'm interested in a razor, the protrusions would not prevent me from purchasing it.  However, I am more aware of them as I shave.

hmmmm i never thought about that. i dont wear jewelry for my razor to get snagged on but now that you mention it, i can see how this may be a problem for some people. do you primarily use razors without protrusions or are you just extra careful when shaving?

I have both types and, honestly, just use the razor I'm in the mood for.  However, I am more aware when using a razor that allows the edges of the blade to protrude.  It's really not a big deal but the ear snag has happened a couple of times.

Second day using same setup as yesterday (in a hotel) again fantastic. The combination of the d plate with a Voskhod Teflon blade is so smooth and close (for me) its unbelievable. I can use this razor every day and probably never get tired of it.

I have had at one time or another all of the above including the H plate from ATT and level 3 from Charcoal Goods (both of those on the very aggressive side). The Karve D plate is absolutely perfect (for me) but YMMV. The build quality is second to none with perfect blade alignment and finish. For the price an absolute steal.

I’m wondering if I should just buy the D plate since I’ve got the B and C on their way. I prefer efficient razors but not overly aggressive. I had swapped out my timeless .95 for .68 since I shave daily . The .95 was a bit too much as a daily driver for me. If the D plate is on par with the .95 timeless, then I’ll most likely stick to what I’ve already purchased . Cheers!

Yes definitely try the B & C plate first.

The ATT H2 and Charcoal Goods Level 3 open comb are two of my favorites. I'm hopeful the D plate I ordered will be aggressive enough...

The D plate not as aggressive as the H & level 3 plates but perfect(for me). I find the D plate very comfortable and doesn't bite.

I've got a few razors I like that aren't as aggressive as the H2 or Charcoal L3, including the Timeless .95 and Rockwell 6S with the #6 plate. It takes a bit more work, but I can get great shaves with those two, and the process is virtually effortless. Do you think the Karve D plate is similar to either of those razors?

The D plate is better then the #6 Rockwell. The shave is very smooth. Using a Voskhod Teflon blade.
