Mo,
Is this particular mallard formula greatly improved over the last release of Pekin? Have to comment, thought the base better than the original - not sure greatly improved but definitely noticably so.

D

Mo is staying off the forums these days because of the constant attacks by the haters. He did tell me that he has improved the Mallard base even more than the last Pekin release and I thought that formula was absolutely amazing!!

Greetings,

Thank you for your recent purchase of my latest soaps Mallard Rose Chai and Molten. This Mallard is better in performance than the previous Mallard releases, by a mile, enjoy Smile

Since most of the orders were from new customers, I thought I’d bring up my suggestions on how to care for Grooming Dept soaps.

Please don't bloom the soaps.

I suggest lathering off the jar for maximum surface area.

The soaps like lots of water, more water than most soaps. Please try to bring the lather to a breaking point so you can find out based on your water what the optimal ratio is.

When finished shaving, place the remaining lather from the brush and/or a lathering vessel and place it on one's face while cleaning up.

After washing the lather, I suggest not using any type of clothes or towels to dry one's face. If you can, let the water dry on it's own. The humectant ingredients I use like to trap water (moisture) within the epidermis.

Let the soaps air out for 24-48 hours. The scents are resilient and won't fade out.

Use the soap on many consecutive days to notice a very nice accumulative effect from the ingredients

Best,
Mohammad Abed.

Thanks for posting this. I got the e-mail too....and there it was! DanLaw was right on the money suggesting letting lather sit while cleaning up. Now I've got to try it. I meant too yesterday and auto-pilot kicked in. Down the sink it went.

Looking forward to trying Molten.

I will say that I miss him chiming in here and there on the forums because his information on the products he makes and releases is extremely valuable. I totally understand why though!

Is it greasy in any way?

I really love it! No, it’s not greasy or oily if applied properly. Just a few drops (seriously) is all that’s needed to a moist...not wet...face. Rub it in throughly...it absorbs in quite fast. The scented versions are very lightly scented. And do not conflict with any soap, AS or balm scents. I like the lavender. Highly recommended!

I use it and absolutely love it!! I have the unscented and the Mandarin and Cardamom bottles. That along with the preshave provides an absolutely incredible shave with GD soaps or any other top tier soap. I use GD soaps and CRSW soaps pretty much exclusively now and the GD soaps comprise 2/3 of my collection. I have moved away from the Vegan line although it is the best Vegan soap I have ever tried. I have found that I love the Mallard, Lusso, Donkey Milk and Primus bases.

Repost but my experience with serum

So been out of the forum loop for a while quite ill with recurring "flu".

To recap, Mo had sent a dropper bottle sample of unscented Serum to test but Enzo had knocked it into a bowl of dirty water.  Having mercilessly brutalized the dog (ask him, he tells everybody that will listen how abused he is) for his dastardly deed went in search of replacements as a blind buy based on reviews.  With a little luck, was able to get some bottles of GD Serum in Unscented and Mandarin/Cardamom realigning the solar system in renewed harmony.

Per Mo's advice, cut back on the normal post shave routine as much out of curiosity as belief it would yield positive results:
Apply final coat of shave soap and allow to remain on face during hardware cleanup
Cold water rinse
Wash with phisoDerm using cold water rinse
Apply alum and cold water rinse
Spritz Witch Hazel
Apply Pitralon AS
Apply ABC Balm

New routine:
Apply final coat of shave soap and allow to remain on face during hardware cleanup
Cold water rinse
Apply GD Serum to wet face rubbing in for 1,5 minutes
Apply ABC Balm

Have to confess, was VERY reluctant to alter an established routine that had taken years to develop and was yielding the best results in a lifetime of shaving ultra sensitive skin.  Further had been trialing the new Wolfman WR2 in 0,95SB both side by side vs BBS1 and WR1 0,54DC then finally as a daily bbs shaver.  That to state not only was the post shave routine altered significantly but was also bbs shaving on a daily basis for nearly 2 weeks straight - something hitherto would have caused unbearable pain and irritation.  Without commenting on the razor review, which is imminent in a separate thread, can conclusively state the GD Serum is incredible!

Without doubt, the best general facial skin tone ever expressed has resulted from using the GD Serum - not only on the shaved areas where irritation has disappeared but also on the eye area where sun and physical trauma have taken quite a toll over the years.  Further, whilst not a fan of scent other than AS and Frags, the scented Serum is so mild that there is virtually no chance of bleeding out to others nor interfering with other scents.  Were I to characterize the trailing scent strength, it would be akin to having prepared a meal - in other words a dog may discern it but no human on Earth could possibly pick up on it.

Whilst hating to alter a proven routine, have now dropped the phisoDerm, witch hazel and alum post shave and dedicated to this route going foreward.  Congrats to Mo on another product delivering on the promises.  For all the people literally suffering from and dreading every shave, going GD preshave, soap and Serum has made the shaving experience physically dull and uneventful while delivering bbs shaves - the perfect result!  I never thought it would get this good and am grateful
