The last time I visited Shave MD I commented that it smelled like ginger ale.  Then a few comments mentioned lemon/lime or Sprite.  So yesterday I bought a Sprite and sure enough, Shave MD does smell like Sprite and not like ginger ale.  Shows what I know.  Anyway, while I took a few more sniffs of Shave MD I got to thinking what SFS would be a good companion to the soap.  Tortola won.

Not sure how old you are Frank but essentially Sprite or any Lemon/Lime drink is almost identical to Ginger Ale. Most people couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste test. I'm also enjoying my Shave MD soap as well but don't use it as much as I should as I'm trying to run through my other soaps right now to minimize the cabinet and make room for more Ethos in the future.

I'm rapidly closing in on the end of my seventh decade above ground. I grew up in the south in a 7Up house in the'50s before Sprite was brought to market. If it wasn't for my self confessed Jersey Girl SO, I wouldn't have a clue what Canada Dry Ginger Ale was like. In my mind ginger ale was something you gave kids to settle their stomach and not something you actually drank on purpose. Until yesterday, I don't remember when I last had a 7Up let alone a Sprite and that will probably be the last time as clear sodas aren't my thing. But yeah, Shave MD is spot on to Sprite.

Two things I've noticed from my first outing with DB v4.  First, the soap is a bit softer than Vetivert F base.  Second, this soap seems to have increased residual slickness.  After my last pass I squeeze the lather from the brush and spread it over my freshly shaven mug and let it sit while I'm cleaning the brush.  When I went to rinse the lather with my hands I was surprised with how slick my skin was after my first semi-rinse.  This is my daily routine as I use this as the final touch-up pass and today was especially noticeable.  Not sure why I didn't pick up this same effect with Vetivert or Shave MD.  I'll need to do some further investigation with those two.

Hello my friend

You are like the 3rd person to say that it is slicker than some of the other shave soaps and I have only one possible explanation as it’s the only thing different and that’s the V4 Dragonsbeard was warmed up 2 times instead of the normal 1 time. I’ve racked my brains trying to figure out why it is slicker. Maybe I had a mental blank out and added more Ostrich oil in the batch than normal as that would probably make it slicker and softer. It also seems like the Essential Oils play a part as well as some soaps come out a little firmer than others even though the formulas are the same percentage wise.

As far as performance goes some liken it to the Vanilla Safi which does have its own unique formula.

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated!

Please add me to the list of the people who feel DB is slicker than other ETHOS soaps Smile

Yeah to be honest, The slickness has improved more but that doesn't mean the lather is not rinsed well. It is rinsed the same as all the other soaps, which is what Frank always focuses on.

So I really enjoy DB for safer and more pleasant shave with its better performance Smile

You can just put me on auto ship for Tortola F base soap(4.5oz), SFS and SFL.   It just needs to be in an invisible box so my SO doesn't ask, "What's in the box?"  She just hates me saying "Nun ya", short for none of your business.

Haha! I hear that a lot from customers.. seems like the misses think we are crazy to have so many Razors, Brushes and Shave Soaps and Aftershaves etc. I used to always ask and how many pairs of shoes in that closet!  Big Grin

My brother and father in law both liked the scents from Dragonsbeard so I bought two DB SFS.

I wish they did classic shaving..

That's why for now I bought only SFS.

And one revitalising serum for me Smile

I love DB
