The Tortola Family of Products.

Frank, very excited for this release. Would you be able to share any early scent notes or thoughts on how the current batch of Tortola is reading compared to the Bay Rum?

Absolutely my friend.

They both start out their lives as the same from scratch Bay Rum recipes but while the Traditional gets all the normally associated ingredients the Tortola gets a bunch of tropical fruits infused into it which is why they come out still as Bay Rums but with a different vibe. Such fruits as Fresh Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit, Tangerine, Freah Coconut meat along with the traditional Lime and Orange are infused into the blend.  My objective was to not loose the identity of a Bay Rum but give it that tropical vibe. I have another one I want to work on for this spring that I’ll keep under the covers for now that I think will be an interesting twist on Bay Rum.

Good question!

Two things I've noticed from my first outing with DB v4.  First, the soap is a bit softer than Vetivert F base.  Second, this soap seems to have increased residual slickness.  After my last pass I squeeze the lather from the brush and spread it over my freshly shaven mug and let it sit while I'm cleaning the brush.  When I went to rinse the lather with my hands I was surprised with how slick my skin was after my first semi-rinse.  This is my daily routine as I use this as the final touch-up pass and today was especially noticeable.  Not sure why I didn't pick up this same effect with Vetivert or Shave MD.  I'll need to do some further investigation with those two.

I can't wait for Tortola, I do have two bay rums and when I really want a fun shave, I go all in on Ethos BR and even supplement it with Derby BR Tonic.

Question, will there be a Tortola SF Lotion, or are you just playing a joke so far away from April 1 on me?

Hello my friend

You are like the 3rd person to say that it is slicker than some of the other shave soaps and I have only one possible explanation as it’s the only thing different and that’s the V4 Dragonsbeard was warmed up 2 times instead of the normal 1 time. I’ve racked my brains trying to figure out why it is slicker. Maybe I had a mental blank out and added more Ostrich oil in the batch than normal as that would probably make it slicker and softer. It also seems like the Essential Oils play a part as well as some soaps come out a little firmer than others even though the formulas are the same percentage wise.

As far as performance goes some liken it to the Vanilla Safi which does have its own unique formula.

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated!

Would you be willing to sell any samples of the new Bay Rum scents, or for any of your wonderful products?

RAD is just a permanently temporary condition.  I'll get over it.. eventually.

Hello Sir

I’m going to be putting a sample program back in place but because I’m behind schedule it will probably take me a couple of months to do it but it will be a very nice sample program.

Thank you for the question.

Would it be possible to provide an email notification tab on your webpage, similar to your out of stock items?

I’ll ask my website developer how that might work and if possible yes for sure.
