To me it’s a less lime-forward Fresco. Sublime. Will scratch any bergamot itch. Ethos is the only brand I can blind buy with confidence.

You haven’t ordered from me in a long time,  so when you say recent when are we talking about? Four or 5 months or 2 weeks ago?

If you had an issue with a product or order you’d normally reach out to me as you know I’d take care of it immediately.

I don’t make those up ahead of time anymore and the only time I did was way back when I first made Melange De Argume so a little confused here at my end.

Email me and I’ll certainly take care of it.

Regards

Frank, hoarded a couple of the Agrumes soaps and scents as it such a favourite of mine.

Unfortunate that I tied to the person where scent turned to Akro, apologies.  While the scent vial I have do not smell of Akro, their scent has all but disappeared. All have been stored in a dark dry room so not as though humidity or light got to them. Scent gone though.

Further, the Agrumes soaps in my possession have lost about half their scent also stored in dark dry room but no where near loss of scent of the scent bottles.

The Agrume skin foods all as good as day received

Other scents such as Colonia, Greenfresh, Succes, Lavender, Fresco&c also as good as day received.

Is it normal that under lab conditions, the Agrumes scent bottles and soaps lose their scent?

Ok the original batch of Melange De Agrume was in the original soft base and the scent was definitely diminished by the heat from making the shave soap. That said I’ll probably never make that scent again in a soap but rather the new Tallow Shave Creme as it suits the. Aroma Blend that’s nothing but citrus much better even though I know some tricks along the way. Also in that blend was both Pink and White Grapefruit which are in no way strong scents . Ruby Red Grapefruit is the strongest of the 3 Grapefruits. So the others will come out of the blend and I’ll increase both the Yuzu and the Litsea Cubea. All of the about change should make the scent come alive and be the Citrus scent it should be.

The Aroma Blend is probably at least 2 years old and I’m certain it’s lost strength as it’s past it’s expected lifespan. I’ll tell you what when I release the Melange De Argume message me and I’ll send you an Aroma Blend you’ll see it’s a a lot different.

Best wishes

Thanks Frank. That was my question: is this normal for the scent to diminish so comprehensively? Suspected it had to do with the nature of pure citrus and especially grapefruit. It lathers just fine though, shaving as well as day one Have always favoured the original base at least as much as S and F.

Apologies for building on the thread mentioning Arko as it surely does not stink, only nearly scentless.

Please do send a generous portion of the new aroma blend and let me know what owed. Have 2,5 tubs of Agrume soap to revive in scent.

Curious though, why are the skin food Agrumes holding up so well scentwise, alcohol??

Anticipating the Vetyvert release

Alcohol will preserve a scent for a very long and in the case of some Aroma ingredients like authentic Sandalwood and Oud for example they actually get better with age. A lot of Carrier and Essential oils have different longevity profiles. Citrus are amongst the weakest unfortunately and that’s why they are mostly featured as top notes.

Hope that explains things.

Thank you for the feedback and encouraging words.

On a personal note I’m a huge fan of Bergamot and I think that for somewhat selfish reasons I made the products. I use Bergamot all 4 seasons even though I’d consider it more of a warm weather scent. Hope you enjoyed the new Serum formula.

Regards and thank you for your order and support!

This explains a lot for me. The last time I went to use my Melange De Agrume aroma blend, I couldn't smell anything. I thought it was just me. Now I know that it needs to be used as soon as possible.

Sorry for causing trouble, but the above posts are why I posted instead of contacting Frank. First of all, by Arko, I don't mean unpleasant cleaning product scent. I mean mellow almost citrus, but not bright and juicy, scent. Maybe it's something floral that I am not familiar with? I also wasn't attempting humour, that was my literal reaction first on my skin then doing a test lather to confirm.

I went back and smelled both my soap and AS splash and they immediately smell like the grapefruit scent that I remember, I thought maybe my nose had changed. Nope. I also looked over the available personal aroma scents several times as I am reasonably decent at identifying scents and couldn't match it. I posted because there still remains the possibility that this is actually the correct aroma blend. I went and smelled it again after huffing my older products and I just don't know, they aren't the same. If it's somebody else's custom Aroma that isn't on the website, I would like to know what it is because my brain is a bit confused right now!

I am not sure what I am going to do at this point, I don't want to cause any further trouble or cost to Frank to ship me another bottle of the exact same thing. Maybe I will see if he will make me the custom Colonia one and invoice me and throw the replacement in... I will figure it out privately from here.

Holy Guacamole the Sandalo skin food splash scent is amazing! I don't just mean that I like it, I mean it's really something special. I want to say that my flow restrictor was being stingy because I thought I put my usual amount on my hand, but it didn't feel like enough on my face. So instead of adding a bit more, I doubled it! The scent just blooms and develops in the first few minutes while I am cleaning up and over two hours later, I am still enjoying it. As it's nearing it's end, I keeping rubbing my face to re-activate it! This would be completely safe after three hours, if anybody smelled it, it could be mistaken for older sandalwood bath products not cologne. I don't have vintage, but I do have some Mysore and that initial bloom is so familiar, wow. And this is just an after shave that I am excited about, not even an EDC.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I’ve made a couple of EDT Sprays for customers using the Sandalo Aroma blend and then giving it a bit of a kick with another little boost with some 1960 Mysore. Obviously the EDT has a higher percentage of the blend than the Skin Food Splash and I’ve been seriously thinking of offering it as a in stock item.

Regards

Frank
