Razor: Timeless .95 SB
Blade: Wizamet (1)
Brush: Rubberset 400/Cashmere
Soap: T&S Sicily 1508.5
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: T&S Sicily
Fragrance: Penhaligon's Sartorial

Got the 68 and 95 Timeless baseplates and a top cap in from Mike HighSpeed to experiment with. The 1st thing I was curious about was how I got along with the .95 SB Timeless and we got along like best friends with today's shave. I was working on VERY little sleep and wanted to save the real experimenting for another day. I had owned the 68 in OC before and it was nice but as a daily shaver the OC wasn't needed and I didn't reach for it much. The SB wasn't quite efficient enough for me and it got sold. I always figured the .95 would be too much for me but always read about how smooth it was for others. Well the .95 SB is a winner and thoroughly enjoyed the shave. The other test is using the .95 plate with the Asylum 17-4 handle and top cap as Mark Shavemd did. This is 1 of the solutions some have tried since the machine shop missed the numbers on the baseplates making them unshavable. On install it sure shows a blade not only with healthy exposure, but also at a fairly straight position rather than some curvature as it protrudes. We shall see how that goes perhaps tomorrow. Have a great day and Stellar saves Gents !!

Razor: Asylum 17-4 Handle and Top Cap/Timeless .68 SB Plate
Blade: Wizamet (1)
Brush: Paladin Vesuvius Chief
Soap: Hub City Red Cabin in the Woods
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Dragonsbeard
Fragrance: Dragonsbeard

Well I'm assuming the .68 and .95 baseplate would have the same effect on the 17-4 razor top cap. I had the 68 loaded together from the day before and just went with that setup. It certainly makes it efficient but I would not call it smooth. I with care and attention to technique had a 3 pass shave that has me with smooth skin. It required a VERY light touch. I tried to get a picture of the exposure of the blade but it's hard to get the blade to show up as it's so thin. It felt like a razor blade on a stick at times. I preferred the shave with the o-ring and adjusting for efficiency and yet smoothness over this. Whether I take to filing the baseplate or not will require some forethought before attempting.

Yesterday evening after checking on my parents our phones starting going off with Tornado Warnings, not alerts of Watches but Warnings to take shelter immediately in a basement. Had about 4 separate Warnings come across on my phone. Welcome to spring in the South. Problem was I still had one more job to do and a couple of hours before heading home (50 minute drive). After looking outside at the sky and seeing just some clouds where I was and where I was heading for work but the Dark and Black clouds and thunder/Lightning was just to the North and West. Quick check of radar shows it was continuing to track on a Northeastern direction. That's the direction to go home and so I felt I would get the last job done before heading into the storm. Worked out well as it put me in the middle of the 2 cells tracking thru. As I drove thru the path the 1st one had gone thru, lots of vegetation on the road with the hail that shredded it. The warm road with the melting hail made it hard to see thru the resulting steam but arrived home safely after a fun adventure. Working late yesterday has me off today to tend to things on our hill here. Hope everyone has a great day !!

Wow! You can tell folks that when you go to work, it’s not a job, it’s an adventure! Sorry the 68 didn’t work out with the 17-4. Will you try the 95? Either way, you should grab a few more shaves with the Timeless.

Thanks Mike! I may load a blade in it with the .95 plate to see how it looks. If it looks like the same exposure as the .68 I'll pass on shaving with it and just get a couple more shaves with the .95 Timeless setup.

I love having some Fridays off and I actually got to take mine today. I’m watching the weather a bit before I try to mow the yard. We’ve had a few sprinkles this morning ... so. I woke up and saw that I had a tornado warning on my phone, (probably from last night) I guess I slept through it. Life in tornado alley.

That's what I always tell my wife, "I'm going to sleep. I'll either wake up or I won't." I refuse to loose sleep glued to a radio/news just to find out I should have just gone to bed.......Got nowhere to go if there is one anyway Big Grin

Razor: Timeless .95 SB/Windrose
Blade: Wizamet (2)
Brush: Stuart/Timberwolf
Soap: T&S Sicily 1508.5 Project
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: T&S Sicily
Fragrance: BVLGARI Aqva Amara

Upon loading the .95 plate with the Asylum top cap I could see it looked the same as when used with the .68 if not more pronounced and so I decided it was a no go. I will use the O-ring method for that until I come up with a plan to file it uniformly and am in the mood to throw caution to the wind. Honestly I got a good shave with the O-ring method and will return to it. But for today I wanted a final shave with the full Timeless .95 SB Head and got another superb shave. This is a winner for me and will watch the BST's for a good deal. I would like one but not enough to shell out north of $200 without a handle when I have others that do the same or better at a fraction of the price. I want to thank HighSpeed Mike for sharing this an giving me a chance to answer a question that has lingered in my mind for literally years. Happy2 The 1508.5 continues with a slight enlargement of the doughnut hole with each use. Today the damage was inflicted by Stuart and a Timberwolf knot. I clean a smooth with ZERO irritation and smelling good. Have a swell day guys !!
