Hi all,

Just wanted to share a really bad experience with ikon razors.

I just received my order of an ikon slant #102, and it arrived scratched, and with damaged coating on the threads. Since it is an 85$ razor, I contacted ikon. The reply was:

"Thank you, kindly review our warranty:

http://ikonrazors.com/warranty/

Warranty
iKon products are under a 1 year warranty to the original owner from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship.
Warranty does not cover damage due to improper use, normal wear and tear (e.g. scratches) as well as defects that have a negligible effect on the operation of razor and or item.
To obtain service within the warranty period have a copy of the original purchase receipt and simply contact us (ikonrazors@gmail.com) and we will repair or replace the defective part."

And that's it. From that point they didn't reply to my mail.

I really hope that they will decide to contact me about replacement, and that the silence is unintentional, but it sure doesn't feel that way.

Did you send them a copy of the purchase receipt?

Another reason I avoid ikon...add it to the long list.

All evidence has been buried, all tapes have been erased.

Yes. This was their reply. The mail before that included "send original receipt".

A shame I didn't know the list. There's a real hype around their slant, so I thought it might be a comfortable razor. Sadly, they don't even bother writing a proper reply for my money.

I also avoid Ikon/Shavecraft razors. The feedback is not the best.

The one time I had to return an item from iKon (this was several years ago - before the brand took off), a replacement item was offered and sent to me.

I won't say that the emails were particularly pleasant, but I did get my replacement.

I've stopped buying stuff directly from this vendor.

Likewise. I like and own a number of iKon razors and enjoy shaving with them but do not and will not buy direct in case I need support.

Main reason I didn't buy a 102 in this last batch as they weren't in the channel.

I have the Shavecraft Tech and I can simply tell you the handle is awful. I ordered mine through a vendor (not ikon) and sent my handle back for three replacements and all three within a month have had chips come off the knurling and the knurling is dull looking. I would say its the worst looking handle condition wise in my den. My vintage Gillette handles even look better.

The last two replacements came and were shiny out of the box, they didn't stay that way for long. I simply think Ikon produces really poor handles. I won't be sending this last one back because at this point it seems moot as it appears all are made sub standardly in this particular line. Three different handles all facing the same quality issues isn't a quality control issue, its a design and materials issue. The head on the other hand, has held together well and still looks great.

I think for the overall cost of Ikon razors, the product isn't worth the money. I have received a lot of razors over the last two years that are not only cheaper, but look great comparatively. At nearly $100 razor this certainly doesn't look the cost.

I won't be buying another Ikon offering again due to the issues with this razor. There are simply better products out there.

I am so sorry to read this. Are you certain that this is the end of your dialogue with Ikon? I have heard such things about Ikon's customer service, but after six Ikon razors I have not had any trouble with the product or Greg. I hope that the razor is still functional, because if so, it is an excellent razor.
Cheers,
Ted

Just want to get rid of it and get my money back. I've sent several emails demanding an answer as to why did I get a blemished/seconds razor for full price, and why is he hiding behind a warranty, when the razor arrived damaged. No reply so far, so I guess none will arrive. His replies were swift, so I guess he didn't wish to answer - He got my money so... Maybe I can post a complaint to PayPal?
Is there any kind of consumer/tax/fraud mail/hotline to report fraud in the US? I'm asking because there's something like that in Israel.

The only thing i'm sure of is that I'll never buy ikon, or items that involve ikon parts, like handles. I hope I can convince other people to do so as well. Bad business should not succeed.
