That being said, I have had issues with Greg as well.  He has called me a liar on a public forum, and has refused to respond to my emails when I had an issue.  I really like iKon products, but I will only buy them used and only if uncoated at a discount.

Although I feel everybody deserves respect as a consumer I have to say that I am even more shocked that a member of the Artisan community was treated this way.

As an FYI, as previously mentioned, I have heard many complaints similar and therefore have always ordered through a retail partner as I do like iKon HW and own a handful of their razors. I ordered a razor direct (2) weeks ago to see for myself how the experience went. Razor shipped a few days after order which I thought was strange as the label was created immediately but not that big a deal; probably accruing orders for drop off.

The razor arrived packed well and in pristine condition so no complaints in this one instance.

Still would not make it a habit and will not order direct in future, if at all.

Hey guys, I've got an answer from PayPal. They accepted my version of events, and gave me a partial refund like I asked that included a discount of 10% for blemished items (per shown in iKon's site for blemished/seconds), and the customs fee that the higher price incurred (the discounted price doesn't require any fee in Israeli customs). All I asked for was to pay the price for a blemished razor, as this is what I got in the mail. I'm happy that PayPal ruled in my favor, and that this ordeal with iKon is over. Thankfully, I'll never have to deal with him again.
For some reason, PayPal declared this a special circumstances case and they refunded me at no cost to iKon. I don't really understand them, but I don't really care. I'm not vindictive (in this case anyhow).

tl;dr
PayPal ruled in my favor. Got my requested partial refund. Happy at the outcome and with the fact that I won't need to deal with him ever again.

Bruce, thanks for your advice about PayPal.

Glad that it worked out. Time is also worth money and unfortunate that you had to waste some of yours chasing this down for satisfaction.

Look forward to your thoughts on the razor itself now!

I hear you! I'm still a bit shocked to receive such treatment from a vendor in the wet shaving community. So far, my experience was really positive, especially with IB and Dapper Dragon. Maggard Razors were a bit terse via email, but were very fair, swift, and overall had great customer service. I really like supporting small businesses. Sadly, no such options in Israel. You can't even buy Personna blades which are made in Israel!

this is why I try to purchase stuff with paypal when available and always send it as a regular payment so there's recourse should something go bad. heck, I just renewed my plan with my personal trainer via paypal as a standard payment (non-friend/family payment).

glad it worked out for you.

Hello everyone.

Yesterday, I received a new iKon Shavecraft Tech with OSS handle. I had to try this one as I love aggressive razors. It is thought to be one of the most aggressive razors in the market, more aggressive than the Muhle R41.
As many of you know already, I noticed some dents and plate loss at the base plate. I contacted the vendor, who said that they had checked their inventory and all of the heads had these marks. They didn't know what to tell me. They suggested talking to iKon directly. Also, they claimed to be those marks typical for this company.
Well, I had planned to contact iKon today, but last night iKon contacted me and offered to send me a new base plate. Excellent customer service! Some minutes ago, they sent me also a tracking number of my parcel. I am very satisfied. I will buy again iKon products. They were gentlemen and we had a great communication via emails.
I really can't understand why iKon has not a good reputation and some customers seems to be unsatisfied about their communication. My experience was great and I recommend to everyone who has problem with his iKon products to contact them directly.

I can only draw from my experience, but the customer service was horrible, very laconic, and claimed everything was cosmetic and that I was trying to commit a fraud. This was my one and only (and last!!!) interaction with iKon directly, and purchasing any of their products indirectly, as I do not wish to give my money in any form to Greg. Just reading his response to PayPal... The nerve on this guy! Such a disgusting language.
I'm glad you had a positive experience, and that you are satisfied as well, but from my experience this vendor is a sham, a cheat and definitely not worth my money for his second rate items. Who in his right mind supplies imperfect products at this price? Don't you think it's a bit odd that all of the inventory was damaged? QA anybody?

I don't know what to tell you. He seems to be very kind and that he does his best to handle cases like this. That's what I get from my good experience.

Some of us are lucky and some unlucky, I do have some bad experiences with vendors, but all of them ended well.
In addition to the problem with my Tech, yesterday I received a sample from a big american vendor with a spider leg at the bottom of the container. It was disgusting! I couldn't use it. He claimed to have doublechecked my package but he didn't see that. Of course, the vendor refunded me but I would prefer a replacement. Probably, he didn't want to pay the shipping cost which is very high, I live in Europe. I don't know if I can believe him about the fact that the inventory was damaged, maybe he didn't want the trouble and the whole shipping cost thing. I wouldn't accept to pay the shipping cost to replace it. Does he expect to order from him again after that? I don't think so. Glad there are too many vendors out there.

First off, it's not "they" it's "he", Greg. The odd time you here a good experience but the negative ones far outnumber the negative. Just read this thread and the countless others online. I've heard horror stories of things he has done to people, things you would never imagine a grown man would do and many may even be considered immoral. I've talked to people who have had first hand personal attacks against them, not including the attacks he has made against other razor makers (ATT) on his FB page.

I have zero respect for him or his work and recommend everyone and everyone to do a bit of research before buying any of his items or dealing with him.

When there are so many respectful Artisans and vendors making razor and handles, there is no need for ikon in the razor market.

Luck shouldn't be a factor. Period. Either you stand by your products and your customer support gives the same treatment to all customers, or it's worth noting. Sorry to hear about the spider leg incident.
