On Saturday I went to Brian's site and bought a SS Lv 3 and a 'Vertigo' handle. Arrived in my mail box today (Monday) First SS CG I've had. Awesome in every way. The finish, the balance, and the shave ! I used the Astra which Brian included with the razor. 2 pass BBS.

For me CG is the best razor outside of a WR2 Wolfman, loved the SB level 2 I had.

One look at that handle and I see why they call it vertigo, because I think I just got hypnotized by it. Nice-looking handle and razor! I plan on keeping my SS Lv3 very nice shavers.

I had to see/feel it to really appreciate it. Brian's 'Burnished' finish is really beautiful. Shiny enough, and not a tool mark on the metal. Just pleased as punch with the razor.

Interesting that the last time he had SS up I waited a day or so to think about it. All of the plates Lv 2 & Lv 3 were gone by the next day. This time the Lv 2 sold out fast, but the Lv 3 was still available today.

Either he made more of the 3, or the 2 is more popular. The 3 suits me down to the ground.

I know you're right they go quick usually. I think about the last time he had them I got a level 2 plate but I still haven't used it. I thought I better give it a shot because I like the level 3 so much.  I was just thinking today I've been trying different razors I really miss a shave with Lv3 SS. Just something about it I really dig.  It's nice to hear that you got one and you really enjoying it.

Finally decided to try these guys out. Ordered a full level 2 copper razor with the magnum handle. Should pair nicely with my copper hammered Captains Choice bowl. I’ve been hearing great thing about the Level 2 and excited to finally have one on the way.

The Gen 1 level 2 CC has become my favorite razor and daily driver. It had a learning curve because I’ve used much more aggressive razors in recent years, but the shaves I get now are outstanding.

I just couldn't get to like the Lv2 SB and not for lack of repeatedly trying. The Lv 2 OC on the other hand, works well for me. I still have a Lv2 DC, so I can play around with the SB side and see if I can mirror your experience.

I had a 2SB that I had purchased as a complete razor, ended up with another 2 from a transaction where I bought the complete razor for the handle. I sold both of those leaving me with this DC.

To me the Lv2 SB is equivalent to the Timeless .68. I could get BBS with it, but not with the efficiency of a Timeless .95, or a CG Lv3. I feel frustration and impatience when I have to work harder to achieve the same results ... even if the end result is the same.  Cool

My first CG razor was a Gen2 level 2 SB. I was very disappointed with its efficiency having mostly used a Game Changer Jaws for a while before that. I listed the CG for sale almost immediately after getting it, and started looking for a level 3 OC (assuming that’s what I would need). I ended up finding a level 2 OC and it was better than the SB, but still not quite what I was looking for so I didn’t use it much.

I picked up a level 3 gen 2 when they were available back in nov/dec, and felt it was just a bit much to use as a daily razor, so I stopped looking for the lvl 3 OC. Out of sheer stubbornness and wanting to make a CG work, I kept going back to the lvl 2 OC on occasion and started tailoring my technique to the razor a bit, I also started playing around with a bunch of blade combos and eventually realized the Astra SP works really well (I’ve never liked Astras before).

After getting a bunch of good shaves, I pulled out the initial CG I bought since it never sold, the Gen 2 level 2 SB, and really enjoyed it as well with the Astra. A little while later I found a Gen 1 level 2 CC and that’s pretty much all I’ve used since I got it.

Long story short, it took quite a bit of deliberate effort to finally enjoy the level 2 SB and I think blade choice makes a huge difference in this razor.
