If the SS didn’t work out for you I highly recommend the Ti. I had both and the Ti was such a better shaver for me. Ti is my go to precision tool for carbon. I did not enjoy the SS as much.

Hey andrewjs18 , can you please move my name to the end of the list? It seems I'm now up next, and I still want to participate, but I have several other pass arounds that are converging soon, so moving to the end of this list should mitigate overlap.

Thanks!

If interested in this pass around, reply in this thread and tell us what state you reside in.

As with the usual DFS pass arounds, please keep the razor for a week and then pass it on to the next person on the list. Once you get time, share your thoughts on the razor, whether positive or negative. Please give the razor a quick bath in alcohol or something similar when you receive it and before sending it out.

**Please be courteous to Sean for sending us such an expensive razor kit to try and insure the package for $900 when shipping it to the next person on the list. This is mandatory. If you don't insure the package and we find out, you'll be barred from future pass arounds we put together on DFS.**

Here's a preliminary report on my shaves.

First shave was with the original plate and was a less than great shave. Soap was Zingari Man Explorer but had a little jumpiness. Perhaps I was not quite used to the light weight of the razor. It wasn't a horrible shave by any means, but not one that gave me the feeling that I'd found a razor that I'd like to buy.

Fortunately the remaining shaves have been excellent. My second shave was also with the original plate and went much better than the first. No jumpiness and a wonderful shave using a sample of Castle Forbes Lime. The 3rd and 4th shaves were with the "-" plate and I felt as if they really worked for me when shaving day after day. On the 4th shave I compared the Carbon (with the - plate) to the Henson Ti (Aggressive) that I recently acquired. Fairly comparable in efficiency but the Henson side had a bit of irritation (presumably to get the same close shave) that was not present on the Carbon side.

Today's shave was after a day without shaving. I went back to the original plate for this shave and compared it to my Tatara Nodachi Masamune. Again - very comparable shaves from these two razors despite the significant difference in weight.

Shaves were all 2 passes with touch ups. The first 3 shaves were with a Brazilian Gillette Platinum Plus blade. The comparison shaves each used new Wizamets so that the comparison was based solely on the difference in razors.

I'm really enjoying this razor. I'm hoping to get a few more shaves in this weekend and then will send the razor out next week. Looking forward to trying out the carbon fibre handle and one of the more aggressive plates.

So my schedule slipped this week and I wasn't able to get the razor out until today. I apologize to those waiting patiently for their turn, but I have to admit I'm glad to have had the chance to get a few more shaves out.

tl;dr - I'm seriously thinking about spending more money that I ever thought I would for a razor.

Last Saturday, I decided I ought to try the carbon fiber handle as long as I had the chance. When the razor arrived, I decided that I liked the looks of the R2 handle better than the carbon handle. The R2 felt good in my hand and I imagined that I would find the carbon fiber to be too light. So I put the carbon fiber handle aside for the week.

But, as long as I had the opportunity, I figured I ought to give the lighter handle a test drive. My first go with the handle was a 3-pass shave on Saturday. I was amazed at how the razor handled and how much control it offered.

Things got busy for me and the next time I had the chance to shave was on Tuesday morning. I took off 3 days' growth with the + plate with one of the best shaves of my life. Two more shaves using the carbon fiber handle and the original and - plates. Excellent, comfortable shaves with BBS results lasting through the day.

So where does that leave me? Great shaves with the R2 handle and the original and - plates. But even better with the carbon fiber handle. Ugh. I never thought I'd spend $300 for a razor - and now I'm thinking about the Atlas. (The web plates would be an added bonus.) Looks like I'll be selling some items on the BST sometime soon.... And then, who knows?

Thanks again to Sean for the opportunity to try these razors. I've sent the package on to kooshman7
