Third shave, two days growth, + plate, Feather blade (3); another damn fine shave with this razor.  I think I prefer the + plate best of the lot of them.  More efficient than the original,  and without the harshness of the ++ plate.  The - plate was also quite satisfactory, but if I had to choose just one, I would go with the + plate; even over the original.

The Ti razor is of course lighter than the SS.  Indeed perhaps a little too light for my tastes, but it does have a softer face feel.  I think if I could have the choice, I would mate the Ti + baseplate and the SS topcap, with my own Tibam handle.  Unfortunately, their handles don't suit me, and they don't sell heads only (although they do sell handles and baseplates separately).

So I think if/when I do buy another Carbon razor, it will be an SS with a + plate, and then re-sell the handle.  Or I could ask the proprietor to please sell me a mixed metal head only.  There is, after all, no harm in asking.

I agree with nearly all of Draebeard's comments. I have found both the Tibam Sample 12 and Bobcat handles are the best pairings for the Carbon Ti razor head. The Bobcat provided slightly better weight distribution due to its length and lighter weight (12mm vs 15mm thickness). I also do not understand why Carbon does not sell the heads separately. IMHO, this is a huge flaw in their business model. They could accept custom orders, and then add those parts to their next standard production run. I am sure people with custom orders would not mind the wait, to get specifically what they would like. I did like the hybrid carbon/Ti handle, and it did provide great balance, if you like a super lightweight razor.

I enjoyed my week with these razors.  My thanks to Carbon Shaving Co. and to Andrew for facilitating.  The Carbon Cx Ti Razor package, with it's assorted baseplates and both handles, is now on it's way to jbreakfield.  I hope he enjoys it.

The Carbon Ti set arrived today. I will post back when I've had time to do some test runs.

I got that email too. Looks very nice, but I do not like the Cx enough to consider buying such an expensive version of it. For Cx fans it is a lovely thing - but you always have to consider whether $1,200 is something you really want to pay for a tool that cuts your facial hair for a day. I don’t otherwise disagree with the pricing for such an attractive and limited production item - I’m sure it is costly and time-consuming to make - and I guess they will sell out fast enough.
