Have been showering twice daily due to poison ivy yet the PdP bars been holding up quite well. Despite the initial cash outlay, find them a very good value. The lather is soft, luxurious and rinses beautifully clean
The joys of summer Danny boy. Poison ivy and I don't get along at all. I have dodged it all summer but I have been woefully inept at dodging the chiggers. They have literally eaten my ass all summer. Has never been this bad in KY before. My PdP lasts about 1 month to 6 weeks per chiggers & the ivy.

I've always had bad reactions to poison ivy. Even had it in my mouth and eye once...that episode required a trip to the doc's office. But about ten years ago, after another nasty case, I got on-line and researched the stupid weed and how it causes the reactions. After a little research, I found a "cure" that has work very well (at least for me). If you know that you have been in or touched poison ivy, one of the worst things you can do is wash yourself with soap and water. That is the primary way it spreads on your body. So what I do now is I will bathe myself in rubbing alcohol prior to taking a shower. The rubbing alcohol helps dry up the plant oil (urushiol oil) before it can be absorbed into the skin. Since I've been doing this, I haven't had anything other than a very minor rash. (NOTE: be prepared to be unable to breathe when dousing yourself in rubbing alcohol. It's not an easy thing to do but i'd rather do that for a few minutes than suffer through itching for 2 weeks)
Also, if you already have the rash, I have found that by scratching the rash and pouring rubbing alcohol on the open wound, it will clear up within a day or two. The benefit here is you get itch that rash to your hearts delight. The downside is pouring rubbing alcohol into an open wound
