I participated in the pass around and was impressed with the Drakkant. I wound up buying one when they became available. The pass around razor was the basic steel finish and I opted to upgrade to the bead blasted finish. I think that was the right move for me. First, the basic finish is pretty industrial and the blasted finish is a nice looking upgrade and secondly, my one criticism of the pass around razor was that it could be a little “draggy”. I didn’t know if it was a function of the finish or the geometry. Well, now that I have the blasted finish I’d say it was a function of the finish because I don’t find the blasted finish razor to drag the same as the pass around basic finish razor. I’m pretty happy about that. It wasn’t a deal breaker (obviously I bought it) but it’s nice to not have that. I’m really happy with the Drakkant and I’ve been using it every shave with a Feather blade for a couple of weeks now. My only suggestion (not really a criticism) is that the stylized A Aylsworth logo engraved into the end of the handle could be engraved a little deeper. It’s very subtle. It’s also pretty cool that they’re numbered. Also, in the first picture in the next post, that’s a Rockwell stand. I don’t recall if Aylsworth offered a stand for sale.

Just discovered this new thread. Thanks for the kind words! Stand is in the works along with the 0.99 mm + plate and OC plates. Hoping to release in the fall of this year.

Can't wait for the H plate

I found some differences between the Overlander and Drakkant.  The Overlander shaves significantly closer on a par with some of my more efficient razors such as the SS BB and Wolfman SB 1.25 and without irritation if I'm not paying attention.  I find the Overlander to have a fair amount of drag.  Sometimes it doesn't bother me, but sometimes it's like fingernails on a chalkboard.  The shave is so efficient that I keep coming back to it and I have to work very hard at it to cause any irritation.

I find the Drakkant to have no drag and to be a mild razor with fairly low efficiency.  To get a shave that approaches the Overlander I need to do multiple passes that eventually cause significant irritation.  For me, the Drakkant is the low efficiency razor I thought it would be and hoped it wasn't.  It went into the closet until a more efficient plate is released.

As I said, razors are subjective - I find the Drakkant with a Feather blade to be very smooth and efficient.  Three pass shave zero irritation.   Happy2 Happy2 Happy2  Thats the beauty of getting in on a pass around - you can try out a razor and see if it works for you.  I haven't had irritation from shaving in years.  I think its often a factor of skin sensitivity and while some hardware/software may be better or worse irritation wise for an individual, its rarely (never?) a case that a specific razor will generally cause irritation for everyone. Just look at the blade thread, there are as many people that hate a given blade as love it

I put a fresh Feather in the Drakkant for yesterday’s shave. Beautiful. Like is there even a blade in there? Wait!! Where did my whiskers go?? I guess if you crave a lot of blade feel then you might not like this razor, or at least with this plate. I like a good smooth and efficient shave which is what this razor gives me. If I were to keep going over and over looking for blade-iness then I’m pretty sure I could cause some irritation. Each to their own.

FYI  Drakkant razors in both finishes are back in stock!

This standard daily shaver model won't be back again until the fall when the + plate launches, and even then supplies will be limited in order to make room for the + models during that release.  So if you like a comfortable daily shaver style razor, this is probably the best time to grab the 0.73 mm standard Drakkant until the new year.

I’ve been enjoying the Drakkant with both the + and the OC plates but probably like the OC a bit more. It’s funny because I like the original plate and the + with a Feather blade but find the Feather to be a bit harsh in the OC. So far I’m liking the Israeli red personna in the OC for a really nice shave.

I’m happy you used the term ‘drag’ as I’ve been searching for a way to describe what I feel when shaving with certain razors.  I used think of it as a ‘squeegee’ action.

Just sold my KARVE CB - Just haven’t used it since I picked up my Timeless Ti 95 SB. I like this razor as it really smooth, however, I need a bit more efficiency for the final clean ups of my shave.  Let’s just say that my Timeless is very smooth, without much drag, but I but more from it.

I’ll need to raise a bit more cash before buying another razor. Open to recommendations

I used the Drakkant with the + plate and a fresh Feather blade. Superb shave  Happy2  I think it’s a draw between this setup and the OC / Israeli red setup. So nice.

Shaved with the Drakkant OC with a GSB yesterday. Here’s a look at how the Drakkant locks down the blade. I didn’t care for the GSB in the Drakkant OC. Much prefer the personna platinum.

It’s a fantastic razor I just ordered my in standard baseplate and plus with stand, it is in machining finish which I’ll get it polished to perfection when time given!

That being said I would classify the Drakkant as a top-tier razor with artisan levels of detail, and it has something for every discerning wet shave enthusiast but ymmv again!!

Pros:
Unique design.
Precise finish.
Aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Very easy to work with.

Come: For me personally None!!

I’ll be looking in future to get Ti as well!!

On another note their packaging is really nice which I appreciate it very much.

Cheers
