Alpha Shaving Outlaw DE razor

Ladies ladies!! no need to get aerated I just never noticed all the tagging and so on - anyway here goes - I am an English native born and bread - I just happen to now live in Hong Kong but I am British. I have been here almost 19 years now!! I am married to a local gal and have two kids who were born here. My wife is Chinese I am English - simple eh?

I design the razors, brushes and so on myself, even the Rubberset 400 clone that I make called T-400, is an adaptation of a design by Tom White with my own changes and bits added on - hence the English/British design tag - it happens to be true... I subcontract the manufacturing out to one of three machine shops that I use - it took me two years to whip them into shape AFTER I found them  - much trial and error and 8 months with this razor alone and where they get it made is there affair although they do tell me they are made in Hong Kong. Personally, I am super happy with the product I get back from them  - and believe me I rejected many many rounds of prototypes not just on the razors but the brushes too. Maybe they subcontract them to Japanese unicorns who make them secretly in a badger powered hotel? I don't think a Made in Hong Kong tag adds anything to the product - hence it is not stamped as such. I fully understand why some might want to have Made in USA or Made in UK stamped on a product - for me it just does not matter - it is a razor not a Rolls Royce or a Chevrolet. The razor speaks for itself.

BTW, no I am not going to give out the names and addresses of my machine shops and contacts. I would dearly love to have my own lathe and milling machine BUT I live in a typical Hong Kong apartment and it is too small, on the 12th floor and the neighbours would bitch at the noise...

The razor is machined, fully machined with a hand polished mirror finish on the outer surfaces and a light machined finish on the "unseen'" parts. The material is 316L stainless Steel. No it is no copied off an R89, V3A or anything else. It is Outlaw - that's it.

Anyway - if you want to read some reviews then look at my webpage. The Executive shaving Outlaw is the SAME razor but with Executive Shaving branding - they also have great reviews - This razor is being compared to ATT, Wolfman and others - I am flattered. Totally blown away by it all.

IF you would like to try one then of course I won't object to you buying one from me... BUT there is a pass-around that started today with me mailing out two razors to USA accompanied by two brushes too - both called Outlaw!!

Not everyone will like Outlaw. I get it that everyone has personal tastes - what I would like is honest feedback so that I can improve. Outlaw is medium aggressive, approx. 0.71mm blade gap, 30.5º blade angle, a fanny hair (that's a beaver hair for my USA cousins) positive blade exposure. Super efficient and not kamikazi banshee level dangerous. Weighs in at about 115g and to my eyes is a beauty!!

There's no need for everyone to get all up in arms over someone asking a question, even though they had to ask it multiple times when the info should've been disclosed already in the razor description!! I don't think that anyone was asking that the razor be stamped with where its made or anyone wanting to know who the machinists were but rather the only inquiry was plain and simple, "where was it manufactured" was all that was asked!! I've personally never understood why this info isn't listed in every razors description so that no one has to even ask the question...

Because "Made in China" only hurts sales. I'm not sure why this needs to be said again either, obvious as the answer is. Maybe another rhetorical question (?). Come on guys.

I don't know why people get so bent about this kind of thing.  I made an innocent statement that was misconstrued/misinterpreted or whatever.  I chose not to engage in what I thought was pettiness.  DFS has very few rules but one of them is that we treat each other with respect and moderators are deserving of the same respect that any member is.  The actions of the OP would have got him the same penalty if he'd treated any member the way he treated the moderators.  Baiting, trolling, passive aggressive, whatever you want to call it, there's a line between having fun and being offensive.  Sometimes its clear and sometimes it not and we have to use our judgment in the interest of maintaining the integrity of the forum.

That said, I have shaving gear that is inexpensive (most of it) and I have some that is moderately expensive (very little).  The Wolfman razor I have cost about $200 Canadian when I got it in 2015 but I wouldn't pay today's price for it, although I have no problem with people who do pay those prices, their money their choice.  My daily shaver is a Rockwell and I favour Semogue boar brushes - cheap?.  If I go to a car show I can tell you, I'm not spending any time looking at Kias or Hyundais no matter how shiny they might be.  I'm looking at the exotic stuff because I'm dreaming.  I do not look down on people who drive Kias or Hyundias.  I drive a 6 year old Ford.  I don't look at the SOTD top judge people's gear, I want to see all the nice stuff.  If you look at my "like" history on the SOTD I like virtually everything. If I haven't liked it its because I got behind and chose not to go back several pages to look and like past SOTDs not because I somehow judged a post unworthy of my like.  I even read and like the SOTD posts that have no photo and I imagine what the stuff looks like.  I like the pictures of stuff nicely presented - I'm impressed by the quality of the photography not the price of the gear.  I don't really care if its a Merkur an EJ or a Wolfman and I'm interested in variety of soap makers as well as the amazing artistry in some of the brush handles and I love the vintage stuff.  Whats wrong with that?  Can we stop being offended and just appreciate the SOTDs in the spirit their were intended?

I asked a simple question. I shouldn't have asked it though as it should have been in the product's description.

I appreciate that Vlasta took the time to write such a detailed answer, but most of them were already known, I've seen exactly the same info using the exact same words in a number of posts. I didn't ask for addresses or names. So I don't understand the covered irony. The answer I was looking for was a single word. Just the country would be enough. If a manufacturer is proud of the product's origin, he has no reason to conceal this very important info. If he does that, he is not proud of his own product and has an agenda. If mentioning the product's origin is bad for your business, then why you even made the product. Nobody asked for a stamp on any product, but full transparency on where it's made. Manufacturer's site and retailers don't mention it. They're certainly proud to sell it and get money, but not proud enough of using the word "China", as if it's the demon that keeps away the customers. Yes, a group of people won't buy anything that comes out of China. Their choice. You're trying to deceive that group and this is against the consumer protection laws. Tha vast majority doesn't give a damn about it. They'll buy it anyway since we all have products made in China and companies keep moving their plants to China to cut cost.

As for the members that continue to make fun of my posts with ironic comments and ramblings, find a more purposeful activity to fill your day. Nobody likes lifeless people. Don't be a jerk.

Also, learn something. If someone asks for an opinion, you're more than welcome to offer one. If someone asks for a specific info, your comment has some value ONLY IF you know the info. Otherwise, move on. You don't have to answer anything because nobody asked what you believe, let alone coming back for more. If you do that, you are being ridiculous.

Just an observer here as this razor interests me. But it seems a whole lot of back and forth has gone on, someone asked a question and got their answer and then feels the need to type a lecture. I just want to know how it shaves and people’s experience not read a finger wagging. Let’s spend our energy on something that’s worth fighting over and just enjoy shaving

It's not really their affair but yours as the seller. Country of origin declarations should be truthful, especially in an ongoing US vs. China trade war.

Good luck with finding what around the globe means on the website. Still that's useful for a US based manufacturer as some buyer's might presume otherwise given past practice and location....

...neither factor being a consideration here...

Razor arrived this afternoon and am I impressed! Of course I've yet to shave with it but to the extent that the polish reflects on the level of care taken..well, winner here over my H&S and basic polish optioned Wolfman and Paradigm (latter not pictured).

Razor arrived this afternoon and am I impressed! Of course I've yet to shave with it but to the extent that the polish reflects on the level of care taken..well, winner here over my H&S and basic polish optioned Wolfman and Paradigm (latter not pictured).

How’s the shave and the knurling?

I'm going to resist the temptation to do an evening shave and will report in the morning on the shave so as to give it a proper workout..

Knurling feels pretty good, midway between my Wolfman (smooth) and Rex Envoy (sharp) in terms of feel.
