jmudrick, thanks, I'll check those out.

I asked Joe from razorock what his most aggressive razor he makes is and he mentioned that it's probably his mentor razor: https://www.italianbarber.com/collection...razor-head

for $7, I'll probably pick one up. has anyone tried the mentor?

Big Grin I must say you are not losing your mind in reference to aggressive razors for sensitive skin. I have only been shaving for just a few months and have done the contrary when warned about aggressive razors and to stay away from razors such as the  Muhle R41. The horror stories of bleeding to death and for a newbie stay far far away and clear  Confused   As already mentioned here having the right razor along with the blade that will suit your hair and skin type will ensure to providing one of the best shaves ever. I do understand the concerns of those that have been shaving for many years about aggressive razors,  however when you have the right combo aggressive razor with a medium type blade such as voskhod or astra sp greens just to mention a few with for example an ikon tech razor your shave will surely be close, efficient and not many passes required. Of course the right technique and shaving soap assist in this process as well. One other thing taking your time to shave not wanting to do things in a rush rush will surely help you out. Take it from me I have rushed my shave with an aggressive razor and when I was done it seem like I came out of the war with battle scars  Tongue Hope this helps. Btw I do have a collection of mild razors as along with aggressive razors which surely changes things up when it comes to my rotation.  Today I shaved with the Ikon Tech Derby razor blade Dr. Jons Anne Bonny  Shaving soap and His 1865 Synthetic shaving brush. I must say BBS no irritation, and smooth and enjoyable shave.  What more can I ask for?? Ok more razors and shaving soaps and and.. Hmmmm. This damn fine shave is for sure addictive. You take care of yourself and glad that you were able to make changes and take the leap to the darkside Ohhh is it really the darkside you decide.

Looks exactly like the Maggard V3A doesn't it? Wonder if same manufacturer or just a case of not much new under the sun.

Andrew, I agree with the recommendation on the Fatip. I've got the Zebrano and the Grande, and have never had alignment issues. Very efficient. Even more smooth is the Schone open comb-very inexpensive, and reportedly made in the same factory as the Fatip.

They're not as aggressive as the R41, but close.

In the high end razors, my favorite aggressive/efficient is the Charcoal Level 3 Open Comb. Every bit as aggressive as the R41, but a much smoother feel.
All the best,

I didn't find the V3A to be aggressive feeling at all. Maybe medium at most. I'll have to break it out again and give it another go.

I use the V3A on the MR5 handle and would say it is about a 7 out of 10 for me.

I just used it the last 2 days and it's was a little less than that for me. Maybe 5-6. This is with a Voskhod blade though. A sharper blade would probably bump it up to 7.

Just snagged an Ikon Tech from Fendrihan, and had my first shave with it.

Good gosh, this is an aggressive razor! I've always had respect for the Mühle R41, and have enjoyed my shaves with it. But this Ikon Tech felt even more aggressive to me-lots of blade feel. To me, it felt less 'smooth' than the Mühle-not a rough shave by any means, but not the smoothest either.

I used a new Feather blade, and after a few strokes my shaving sense kicked in, and sent the message to my hands to go slow. The shave felt extremely close, a BBS that feels like it will last for a couple of days. However, this may be the most 'dangerous' razor I've used. Looking forward to using it more, but not for a few days! Smile
