hopefully it's repeatable!  I'll probably shave tonight (it'll be 2 days since my last shave).

Out of curiosity, how did your subsequent shave (s) go? I'm now intrigued by this razor, the Ikon Tech. Aggressive razors and I seem to get along quite well. It inspired me to pull out my most aggressive DE razor that I haven't used in a while. The PAA EVO DOC SS. This razor can chop it up with the best of them. But, I placed an order for a Ikon Tech tonight. At $70 it's not a bad deal. And they are getting real hard to find. Anyways, the PAA delivered in spades. Love this thing!

very well, actually. I'm quite impressed! so far, the tech has been smoother on my skin than the R41, but I haven't tried using the R41 where I only use cold water and rub my neck with an ice cube before shaving yet..I'll try that out once the blade is finished up in my tech..I'm guessing I can get 2-3 more shaves out it...

I have a very sensitive skin. I usually prefer mild razors on a daily basis. I lately experienced the vertu of an aggressive razor with the Rocnel SE-G. This is such an efficient razor that all I needed is 2 passes to get the BBS. And my skin was far less irritated from shave to another. Despite being counter intuitive, this experience was so convincing that I bought a Timeless Razor in 0.95.

Combining an aggressive razor with 2 passes is the holy graal for me.

try an ikon tech if you're able to find one...it's been quite a nice razor for me so far!

just reporting back after using the ikon tech for a month or two now that it's simply amazing. my skin has never looked better before/during/after my shaves!

sometimes conventional wisdom doesn't work for everyone. with my type of skin and facial hair - sensitive & dry skin with coarse hair that lays very flat against the skin when it first grows out - you'd think that a super mild razor & blade would work best. it turns out that I get amazing shaves with the most aggressive DEs out there (ikon tech & the muhle r41)!

What handle have you been using? I'm still experimenting.

I've been using the aluminum handle that came with my ATT M1 Calypso. The only downside to the ikon tech is how long the threaded stud is..seems like it's double the length of most 3-piece razors.

I have similar skin. I will look into the tech as well.

I don't want to stir the waters too much but I would like to relate my personal experience in "The Greatest Razor Quest."
I started this adventure at the beginning of the year. I read all the forums and watched days worth videos on how to shave.
I started acquiring razors in the thought than it had to be the razor. I knew what I was doing so that had to be the answer.
Open combs galore, vintage razors (enough to open a small museum), the latest and greatest stainless steel artisan razors.
After about 7 months of differing irritation and soreness, I realized that it was me and my technique that was at issue, not the razor!
Yes, I will admit that some of the razors were crappy but the majority of the ones I have shave quite well now that I have learned how to shave.

To stay on thread, I went the aggressive is better route. After a revelation from a fellow shaver I found that my technique was off. I had no idea how to define "little to no pressure." Coming from carts I thought that I was using little to no pressure. I was sadly mistaken in my thinking.
Now I can get a BBS shave from a Blackbird (OC or SB), ATT R1, R2 and H1, or a Pre-war Gillette Tech. I can get a decent shave from a Super speed or Fatboy. Something about toggle heads throws my game off.
All that to say that I can get an irritation free shave from a mild razor and an aggressive razor. The secret was learning how to shave! At least for me.
This is an ongoing adventure for me and I am always open to suggestions from my fellow shavers. For me, it is either take their advice or learn the hard way on my own.
When I think I can do it on my own and ignore others, the result usually involves some blood. To be honest, I am kind of tired of doing that.
My suggestion is to pick a razor and shave.I find that better technique trumps the razor itself.
