Catch them on sale and it comes out to 48 cents each. Since you are buying in bulk, wait until Black Friday and the sale is bound to be better. I don't do SOTD pictures because its too much work Confused in the early dawn hours so I took this just to show the relative size of 240 at once. I might shove that in that leather case to store. Brush is unused yet. I've been lazy.  Sick

Lovely photo! You could always take enough photos on the weekend for the items you will be using throughout the upcoming week and then just use those items, each day.
Works for me. Big Grin

I've seen brushes sell for $300-500, and since the OneBlade is built of more durable materials, it is likely to provide a more lasting investment.

To me the only serious cost-related criticism of the OneBlade relates to the high operating cost (relative to comparable high end razors) of using the Feather SE blades. Even so, the purchase can be justified on other grounds.

OneBlade is high on my list, but I'm waiting to hear impressions of the upcoming ATT and Wolfman SE razors before I spring for one myself. Hell, I might just grab one anyway since the others aren't that comparable (since they don't have the pivoting heads).

Also, they aren't comparable because they use completely different blades. The shape of the GEM blades provides a different type of cut IMO than you get from the longer shavette style blade.

Great point SharpSpine! In your view, which type of blade/system provides a greater reduction in blade flex/chatter? This is important to me since it seems to be the primary advantage of the SE format versus DE.

Similar to DE razors, some of that is dependent on the razor design. In regards to the blade itself it can be a tougher proposition. The Artist Club blades are shorter front to back so they are harder to bend the keen edge up or down. However, these blades are very easy to bend the left and/or right sides up or down. The GEM blades are basically the opposite.

What I seem to be noticing lately with the GEM blades is that the extra metal behind the keen edge gives the blade more "strength" to cut through coarse stubble. After using Artist Club blades exclusively for 15+ months I am now really appreciating the GEM blades; especially on the OneBlade but also in my MicroMatics.

Thanks much for the detailed reply! So as I understand it, the Artist Club blades are less likely than the OneBlade size Feathers to flex during the shave? And what do you mean by more "strength"?

I didn't say either is less likely to flex during the shave as they both have a different plane that they more easily could flex. In my own thinking there is a higher percentage of blade exposed with the Artist Club blades than there is with the GEM blades so I would think there would be a higher chance of flex with the Artist Clubs.

In regards to my strength comment let me paint a picture. Think of a scoop attached to my kid's 4-wheeler compared to a scoop attached to my V8 Super Duty truck. Which one would you expect to clear the snow off of the road more efficiently?

This makes more sense to me, and sadly, the analogy with the trucks was actually quite helpful Smile. I appreciate the clarification mate.

I'm curious about the OneBlade razor, but I'd never actually buy it. If I'm going to pay that much for a razor, I'd rather get a stainless steel razor from Above the Tie. Then I can use any DE blade I want. As it stands, I think the OneBlade razor is a confused product made for a (near?) nonexistent niche. Cartridge razor users are not going to buy a luxury razor like the OneBlade, and DE razor users will probably stay away because of the price AND lack of customization.

Welcome first post!

Your assessment of the target audience is not correct. http://sharpologist.com/2015/11/oneblade...razor.html

" ... Tod [OneBlade CEO] is very up-front and specific about OneBlade’s targeted market.  “Our goal is to go to that guy that uses a cartridge right now and getting poor results,” he says.  And to narrow their perfect customer down even more, that guy is an older ... executive type who doesn’t have an issue with price "

But most men I know tend to be frugal, regardless of how much money they make. Even if there are guys shaving with cartridges and getting poor results (most likely due to poor beard prep, tbh) and they're rich enough to throw money around like it's nothing, still... what reason do they have to go with the OneBlade over a DE razor?

4,000+ sold in their brief time would seem to suggest otherwise; at least currently. Time will tell. Still, to compare any SE to a DE is wrong as the blades are so different. I still say that the reason there are so many DE blades is because you always have to sacrifice something with such a thin edge and ribbon like blade. Thicker SE blades have less variance, thus fewer options. Definitely a different feel which may not be for everyone.
