Your thoughts on OneBlade

I doubt I'll buy my blades from OneBlade, apart from using the coupon they included for 30 free ones. Hobbyist you'll see that both Bullgoose and Connaught sell the Feather FHS blades for less, and in bulk (240 blades) it's even less expensive, of course. I already grabbed a bunch from Bullgoose so I'm set for a bit.

And that's not to mention (de-spined) GEM blades, which a lot of folks prefer in the OneBlade.

Two shaves per blade (for the Feathers) will likely be optimum for me, but I've seen enough guys mention getting more longevity than that, so it will really depend on your situation.

I was looking at the One Blade website and checking out the price of blades. Why is it cheaper to buy 30 packs then 60 or 90? You could buy 3 packs of 30 for several dollars cheaper than 1 pack of 90 so instead of a discount for buying in bulk is actually more. Is three anything that makes financial sense with this beautiful razor system?

I love my AS-D2 but if One Blade blades were cheaper or lasted longer then a few shaves (recommended one shave) then I would buy one next time it is on sale. I saw it was 35% off last December which would be very tempting for me.

As people have noted on this thread before,use the de-spined Gem blades. They are cheaper and last longer and perform better than any DE blade IMO. I think you will be happy going with that route.

Thanks. That's good to know that Connaught sells them. I'm more than content with my AS-D2 but if they run another sale some day I might consider one.

I just shaved for the first time with the oneblade using a feather. Naturally I was very impressed with the presentation and quality of the razor. As for the shave,it was close but not nearly as close as my SS mongoose which has been my daily driver. Considering it was my first shave with the razor though it was not bad. My main objective is to see the longevity of the shave (how long the BBS lasts. My mongoose rules in that area so I will be interested in how the oneblade compares to it. The oneblade will definitely be in my rotation and will see if it can replace my mongoose as my favorite. Tomorrow I will try a gem which is also one of my favorite blades,so I think it will get better.

Indeed, much as I'm liking my OneBlade and appreciating how effective-yet-mild it is, it's not a particularly aggressive razor. I'm okay with that, as I feel comfortable going for three passes with it knowing I'm not going to irritate my skin, whereas with the Mongoose I have to be more careful (though I agree, something like the Mongoose or Feather SS are going to get closer, quicker). You may find that the OneBlade shaves a bit closer once you get used to it, though, again, it's never going to be as aggressive as some of these others.

Yea, I am used to and like very aggressive razors. I shaved with ATTH2, 2011 R41 and Ikon shavetech all of which I just sold off. I liked the mongoose so much I decided to just stick with SE's. I shaved 1 hour ago and I keep feeling my face and it is smooth and pretty close. I am not disappointed at all and since I never use "mild" razors, I feel I will get the technique down. I think I have to use a little more pressure which I am not used to doing. I am pretty happy with the shave the oneblade gave me tho.

Yeah I'm still not sure how much adding a little pressure helps or not with the OneBlade, though the razor accommodates it. My approach instead has been to go for a full three passes (I sometimes sneak through just two with my more aggressive razors). Three passes with the OneBlade works for me since it's so non-irritating, so I end up with a very close shave anyway. But it's still new to me too, and I'm still figuring it all out.

I always do 3 passes WTG-XTG_ATG with every razor---Its just my routine I've always done it--We will figure the oneblade out  with usage and I must say it is a sweet razor

Yep... The OneBlade requires figuring out and it's own "technique" as well, although if you get it wrong it won't punish you with a blotchy or bloody face!

People may think initially that the OneBlade is mild because of how safe it is, but once dialed in, it will give the same BBS efficient results as a more aggressive razor.

Part of that technique is applying more pressure in difficult areas. But also, "ride the pivot" as another poster noted; meaning, let it ride around curves and angles of the face, while letting the pivot work out the same angle. Skin stretching is also safe here.

One can safely skip the WTG pass with the OneBlade. I go 1 pass AGT on face with touch ups, 1 pass XTG on jawline with touch ups, and 2 passes on neck with touch ups AGT, WTG, XTG. All for a very deep BBS result.

Mild and safe feeling, but aggressive and efficient results!
