The formula was completely overhauled in response to tester feedback. I cared more about the performance than the scent; I knew there were problems with the scent,  but I also knew that they could and would be fixed internally, so what I really wanted to know was what people thought of the performance. Smile The exercise proved to be extremely productive and we revised the base according to the feedback we received. It's far improved from the beta test.

Shawn's splashes are excellent, by the way. Really top-grade work. Smile

I'm still waiting with eager anticipation Smile  I know you've probably answered this in the past but things can change - are you still planning on revamping Kyovu and continuing with that product in your line up?

Yes, but the Kyovu reformulation is going to take longer than originally anticipated, largely because we're attempting to finish Reserve splash first. I have yet to decide whether Kyovu or a Reserve balm will be created first, especially since they will serve largely the same function.

Is Reserve Splash different from the 3 Barrister's Reserve (classic/cool/spice) just released? And a balm? I thought I was paying attention but I did not know about the balm - will it be in the classic/cool/spice fragrances?

As for the Kyovu reformulation I will wait patiently (like I have a choice?Smile) and I'm not close to empty on any that I currently have. It will be fun to do a side by side comparison of old vs new Kyovu. There certainly is lots going on with Barrister and Mann.

No, I refer to the product currently on the market as "Reserve splash" to differentiate it from the balm and from Kyovu, all of which will fall under the Reserve line eventually (Kyovu might get a rename as a result). I have not mentioned a balm in any particular capacity recently, largely because I have scrapped the work done on it so far and decided to start again from scratch. However, when complete, it will be released in all five (possibly six) Reserve fragrances (Classic, Cool, Spice, Lavender, and Fern; I am not revealing the sixth one for now because we're not certain if the source fragrance can actually be saved).

Thanks for clearing that up Will! I'm sure it was already discussed before, but I couldn't remember.

Right, I forgot about the other 2 (or 3) Reserve Splashes. This all sounds great, you know, when its starting to look like you're getting too much on your plate....get a bigger plate!Big Grin This is truly a great time to be a man who shaves.

Thanks Will.

I'll eventually get to it. having spent over $300 in the past few months on shaving supplies, I'm holding off for a bit.

You know whats funny? The fact that most individual shaving related items are relatively cheap and are minor purchases in the whole scheme of things leads us to make multiple small purchases that can add up to a lot of money. Most of us won't be making 8 or 10 separate purchases of shaving brushes priced in the several hundred dollar range but 8 or 10 soaps at $15 to $20 bucks each adds up. Its the psychology of marketing. I think establishing a budget and then ruthlessly sticking to it has to be the way to stop the madness. Big Grin

my big cost was the oneblade razor. I then bought 2 of the new Barrister Reserve splashes, a soap from TBS and some aftershave samples.

I use the splash I like, but to cut down on the burn, I apply an AS balm first, then the splash. After that I apply a skin moisturiser. If you apply a moisturiser as the final step, you can pretty much use what ever splash you like.
