You tried to like this razor, but...

I will heartily concur regarding the Ikon Short Comb, I've tried numerous times to get to like it but every time it leaves my entire beard area feeling somewhat raw and burned. Its just not worth the skin when I have other razors that are efficient and far more comfortable.

The other razor I'd put on this list is the ATT Atlas M2 OC - I started with the R2 and found it waaaay too aggressive and uncomfortable so I switched to the M2 supposedly their mildest baseplate and frankly I could barely perceive a reduction in aggressiveness over the R2.

I'll likely sell both of these razors at some point.

I have had zero luck with every single slant I've tried. I really wanted to like them because I think the concept of slanting and torquing a blade to slice, in theory, makes a lot of sense. They are always too mild for my thick and fast growing beard.

Have you tried Italian Barber's Wunderbar? It is the most aggressive slant I've tried, yet it is very smooth and efficient.

I think it quite interesting how often the name "Ikon" gets mentioned, even if not the same model.

Well, I feel like I’m going to repeat a theme here. First of all, even though the Mühle R41 (2013) was incredibly effective at getting rid of (multi-day) stubble, and the “face feels” after a shave were incomparable, I just didn’t enjoy the shaves themselves that much. So I finally decided to send it onward.

And then there is — tada! — the iKon ShaveCraft 103 Short Comb. Just like Teddyboy and Marko have already mentioned, the shaves with this razor can feel somewhat harsh, and I, too, believe it’s due to the shape of the teeth, more than anything else. However, the last few times I’ve used it, I’ve really focused on a shallower angle, zero pressure, and shaving stubble instead of skin, and it has been a lot better. (It might still be on the den-thinning cutting block, though.)

One more — the Gillette Travel Tech 1975. Even with a Feather blade, it felt like not much shaving action was happening with this ultra-mild razor. Beautiful as it was, I found it a new home.

I've had five and is seems like Ikon makes the okayest razors on the market. Not great and not bad, just okay.

I haven't found a comfortable Artist Club blade yet, much as I hoped the SE concept would work.

That's too bad about all the R41s.

Dovo Bismarck 6/8 straight. I mentioned it in another string, but one of the most beautiful regular production razors from Dovo. Of all the razors it was the one I loved to look at and the one that gave me the absolute worst cut. Nothing before it and nothing after it came that close. After the blood letting experience there was just way to much negative mojo (or bad nerves) so I got rid of it. It sold for what I bought it for. Hopefully the dude who bought it lived to tell the tale.

You may be right, the 102 slant is a real favourite of mine though. I've seen posts that don't feel the same way as I do about it though. Maybe I'll give the short comb another chance
