You can't make this stuff up

I don't think this will ever get made at least not by them. Gillette will come in offer them a huge amount of money for all the research, applicable patents etc, and these guys become overnight multi millionaires without ever having to make and market the product themselves. There's no way Gillette lets this come to the market unless they can label it and sell if for double or triple what the current pledge request is.

I think we can all agree this is strange, since they're developing a hair removal device intended for facial hair.

OK I figured out the equation and they didn't just pick up a math paper and write some random math problem on the board behind the speaker in the beginning. One of the equations is for the refractive index distribution in a coupled waveguide with seperate transverse and axial dependencies. How it applies to the razor - not sure but at least it is optically related.

Morgan Gustavsson (the first guy talking) apparently was/is heavily involved in pulsed light for medical applications (based on some published papers) so he does bring some knowledge to the table. My only question is the prototype in the video a mock up or a real item? If it were real I would think they would show someone shaving with it.

Based on what they raised - they will have the funds to get this going and possible bring it to the market and I guess if they pull this off they have a chance of getting bought out by the big razor companies.

It Might serve as a secondary function to slice fruit, cut rope??  Side note, i find these kick starter razor Campaigns especially interesting when everyone of the founders isn't clean shaven at all.  Hmmmmmm buy my razor it is good enough for me NOT TO USE......

They posted another video in the Updates section of their working prototype: it laboriously cuts through one arm hair at a time, really a long way from where it'd need to be. But they claim they've got it all figured out...
