Instagram is likely the best place for updates on Yates. I know from following them there that they have been busyyy!

- Jake was sick for a bit
- new machine coming
- wet shaving club needed a restock
- new razor for wet shaving club maybe?
- I think Jake is also working on an MBA?

And they’ve got two young boys.

They usually email out to their newsletter when there’s new stock coming, so it’s unlikely anything has been released.

These are just observations, rather than insider info. Take from it what you will.

Edit: I think they had a co-op student for a bit that probably could keep pumping product out for a while, but I think he’s done. Could have limited production.

Edit 2: Jake is very responsive and generous by email if there’s ever any questions you have.

And he has a day job too I believe. The razors are still just a side gig.

I contacted him recently about availability and he said they‘re working on a big restock and that they‘re also waiting for their new packaging. I think all of it will be finished at the same time.

But they really should remove that estimated availability page from their website. It does more harm than good.

Indeed. So far Wink

I received a reply from him back in December 2020:
Quote:All brass razors are definitely in the future. Hopefully within the next few months.
I know they are a bit overwhelmed now, so we just have to wait.

Does anyone happen to know the blade exposure of the H plate?

M = Neutral or 0mm
H = ??
EH = .23mm

This is ALL that is on the Yates website:

921-M is a mid-level baseplate, designed as a neutral shaver. This is our flagship plate, producing a nice, close shave, while also reducing the probability of nicks and cuts.
Blade Gap: .025" (.64mm)
Exposure: Neutral
Weight: 19g

921-H baseplate boasts increased blade gap and positive
Blade Gap: .040" (1.02mm)
Exposure: Positive

921-EH baseplate is our most aggressive and efficient plate.
Blade Gap: .050" (1.27mm) , Solid Bar
Exposure: Positive .009" (.23mm)

Maybe YatesPrecision could help us fill in the missing piece? We’re trying to figure out the measurement of blade exposure on the H plate.

Just had my first shave this morning with the EH baseplate.

I am not going to go shouting from the rooftops quite yet, but...

This may turn into my favorite razor.

It's certainly able to get me glass smooth with zero irritation.

The question is, can it do the above every day without any irritation. Today was my first shave after a break.

We will see... staying optimistic.

2nd shave, possibly even closer than the first. Trying to give this razor a fair shot, so I didn't use IB unlabeled soap. I used Speick cream, as I find it easier to make a protective. cushiony lather than soap.

No real pain on my neck. Seriously impressed.

The one thing i note is that this does not glide so well if I am going over an area again. It's unique to YPM. Not a big deal, but I am curious if anyone else has had the experience.
