Hello DF shavers, I'm a newbie to wet shaving looking to advance. I'm still on wolfman's waiting list, so if it's quick enough I may get a chance to place an order early in July. I'm hoping to get a wr2 1.55 because I don't shave too often, about twice to three times a week, so the efficient 1.55 might be a better fit. Also I would like to know how the DB compares to the WR2, what are the features of the DB? Given my frequency which one would be better suited? Thanks for the help guys! Really appreciate.
Hi, now idea abut DB. WR2 1.55 is very good from what I heard, I ordered one and is on the way.
I would suggest first some easier razor to try (and cheaper also). YMMV but for me personally would be WR2 1.55 too much in first months of wet shaving. Cheap but nice to find if you like bladefeel is for example Bayonetta. Or Muhle Rocca.. Also Blackbird is probably easier as WR2 1.55 and more accesible to try. It could help to reduce expensive mistakes.. Just my 2 cents

I can give you my opinion as I’ve owned and shaved with both and in fact I just posted a shave with the WR2 Ti Dual Comb SB 1.45/1.55. It’s a great razor and in Ti it is also very maneuverable which I like. There a decent amount of Blade feel and that can increase or decrease depending on what blade you load it with.
The Paradigm Diamondback at least in SS as I’ve owned one since first released is about as efficient as a 1.25 WR2 but it is noticeably smoother and is very easy to use. Not quite mindless but very close. If I’m an everyday shaver or even every 2 days I’m picking the DB all day long but if it’s been 4 or 5 days the I’d reach for the WR2. So to me they are not very close in shaving characteristics at all. Both excellent razors I’ll add so can’t go wrong with either but if you’re new to wet shaving I’d say if they are your only choice I’d go with the Diamondback.

They weren't my only options. I just want to try out the differences in high end razors and these two were just the first options that came to mind.(DB Ti and WR SS are very close range of the cost) I usually shave once in 2 to 3 days so it seems like 1.55 is too high? Thank you very very much for the advice, it's so helpful. the diamond back is even smoother than the wolfman I didn't even think of that.

Dragonsbeard he is new to the forum. He said the Dback Ti was too mellow for him - but I don’t think he’s tried it.
ZOJUMP go slow with opinions on something until you try it. Frank (Dbeard) has a 145/155 Ti he also owned a SS Dback. He hosted the world shave off showdown on another forum which has been reduced but at one time was probably the most followed thread in the world of wet shaving comparisons.
Candidly - I shave every 2 days. The Dback is not too mild for me and I do not have wimpy whiskers. Everything has its merits but enjoy the ride.

In todays economy, more people would gravitate towards a Paradigm Salient which is $99 I think.
DB in Ti is around $350
The Wolfman equivalent in Ti would be almost twice as much I think...although I haven't seen his latest pricelist

If you are looking for good efficiency I can only recommend Yates. Actually DB in Ti is produced by Jakes. 921 with H or EH plates are difficult to beat especially for price. Same as Wolfman it would need time and patience.. both are well worth waiting for.

If you're new to wet shaving, I would recommend the WR2 1.25 SB. It's efficient, smooth and safe. The WR2 1.55 is going to be far too aggressive as you won't have the technique. It's like having a learner's license and buying a 911 GT3 RS.
One razor I can recommend without hesitation is the Rocnel Sailor adjustable. The geometry of the head is the best I've tried in over 10 years of wet shaving, and the variable gap allows you to dial in the shave for your face. I have the stainless version. Would love to order the titanium when it's available again.
