I suppose you can sound tara out on the request but there are no guarantees with Wolfman.
Judging by your tastes, you may like a Tatara Masamune adjustable razor...its as mindless as can be.

If your instinct is that the 0.95mm WR2 is a little too aggressive, you're probably right.
I mulled over the same decision after getting a WR2 SS in the 0.95mm SB gap and used it for a few months. For me, it wasn't quite as brainless of a shaving experience and I got occasional weepers here and there. Ordered the 0.85mm SB in SS after that and it shaved like a dream--got rid of the 0.95. Just got in a 0.85mm SB WR2 in Ti and it shaves great just the same. (The biggest difference is the better balance of the whole razor due to Ti being lighter.)
For reference, I prefer mild DE razors and others that have delivered similarly easy shavers for me are: Karve SS SB-A plate and Rockwell 6S R3 plate.

This is actually perfect as with my adjustables I like to do the first pass on a more aggressive setting and then do the subsequent passes on a lesser, more gentle setting.
I’m VERY curious to hear your review on this low of gap WR2, for clarification you’re going with a .75 OC side and a .85 SB side?

I went .75 SB on one side and .85 SB on the other. Will let you know how I like it. The razor just shipped today.
LOOT can you share your experience with the 1.75 gap and how much it differs from 1.65 in efficiency and smoothness/blade feel?
I already have a SS 1.65 but am on the waitlist for Ti. Thinking of doing a DC 1.75/1.55 SB. James, however, feels there isn't any significant difference between 1.75 and 1.65.

I’ve been stalking the Wolfman site all week. Your impressions of the WR2 are just what I was hoping for. I own a BBS-1, so I’ll be able to give my impressions of how the BBS-1 and the WR2 compare in a week or two.

I went .75 SB on one side and .85 SB on the other. Will let you know how I like it. The razor just shipped today.
ExtraProtein so I've had the razor 3 days and wanted to get a few shaves in before giving you some initial impressions. the tl;dr is it's the best razor I've ever used. not an exaggeration, not a honeymoon period, just fact. I'll highlight my reasons for saying this below.
When I got the razor I had just shaved the day before with my WR2 .95 SB and my face was feeling a little raw,. But I had some stubble and thought this would be a good test on how gentle it was. Well I shaved on the .75 SB side only and ended up with BBS skin. Zero irritation and it felt like I could endlessly buff with it. At the end I used an alum block and for the first time ever I felt no stinging.
Today, I shaved after a 2 day break. First pass was done on the .85 SB with the grain. Comfortable with the tiniest of blade feel. Then I did across-the-grain and against-the-grain with the .75 SB side and this is where the razor shined. No blade feel whatsoever. The razor just wiped the hair away. The only reason I knew it was cutting was because I heard it. At the end of the shave it felt like I didn't shave at all. I never had this experience with any other razor. BBS again, no stinging after using the alum block again. It even got the lower neck that I always have trouble with to BBS. That's a first
It's important to mention that this wasn't even using my best shaving soap. I used Wahl's shaving gel today which works fine but not as good as most of the artisan soaps I've tried.
I'm going to give it another few weeks with shorter and longer breaks between shaving but if this continues this is totally my grail razor. Aside from a Gillette adjustable I may sell all my other razor gear. Why would I use anything else when I can get BBS with no irritation. That's what I've been looking for since I discovered wet shaving.
Really surprised more people aren't talking about the .85 or .75 gaps. My other razors aren't even very mild so maybe these lower gaps aren't just for people who need something for sensitive skin?
Happy to answer any questions. I'm adding a few photos. The dot you see on the baseplate was added by me with a a permanent waterproof marker. It helps me distinguish between the two sides because wolfman doesn't mark it otherwise. They just say the more aggressive gap is the one above the logo.
For calibration here are some other razors I have used or currently own:
- Wolfman Wr2 .95 SB titanium: works well but a bit too aggressive. I like how it shaved so I'm glad I pushed the gaps lower
- Timeless Slim titanium: was my other favorite razor alongside the WR2 .95 and has a very unique "precise" feel to it.
- Gillette Slim rhodium: I typically used this at a level 4 and dropped the setting down to 3 and 2 on the final passes. I want to keep it because I appreciate how old it is and how good it performs. It can serve as my travel razor.
- Karve CB brass: preferred this on the C plate
- Timeless .95 titanium: too aggressive for me. always gave me irritation
- Timeless .68 titanium: not efficient. I'd have to buff a ton to get a close shave and ended up with irritation
- Homelike taiga SS: another adjustable. feels close to the gillette slim and I used it at the same settings (i.e. started on a higher setting and dropped down from there)
- StandoPolska Prowe SE: also a gentle razor but not very efficient. this takes a single edge
- Blackland vector: felt way too aggressive and I hated loading it with a blade. also found this too wide and less maneuverable despite the skinny profile. Returned this to blackland. They were great to deal with though
spatro -- this review was very helpful. Thank you for posting good sir! I've been considering purchasing a very similar configuration on my next order but am still not 100% sure which gap to select.
Your Timeless Ti 0.68--is it smooth bar or open comb? Are you able to compare the aggressiveness of the 0.68 to your WR2 0.75/0.85? To me, aggressiveness means bad technique leads to drama. I'm a daily shaver so efficiency is seldom a concern. However, I don't feel as well these days, so less aggressive razors are the current flavor.
