Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

I’m a few shaves in with the 1.35 SB Ti and quite impressed with the smoothness to efficiency ratio…

Absolutely...in my tryouts with a number of WR2 gaps, the 1.35 hit the sweet spot on all parameters.

I must respectfully  disagree with my esteemed colleague LOOT here. I currently have both a .95 WR2 and a BBS-1 and I find the .95 to be much milder than the BBS-1. To me, the BBS-1 feels like it fits somewhere between a WR1 .80 and a .86 or like a WR2 1.35.

I have similar results with my BBS-1 as well. To me it most closely resembles the shaves I get with my WR1 .80 and WR2 1.35. I always use a Feather blade with my BBS-1.

Ol LOOT found a couple of guys overcompensating for their tiny gaps.

Ha! Different strokes for different folks you Troll! I’m not overcompensating, I’m just being honest about my experiences. We can’t all be ‘Maximum Gap’ type guys. Some of my very favorite shavers, WR2 OC for example, aren’t popular with the masses but shave beautifully for me. Everything I had read or heard about the WR2 OC was that it provided a rough shave, not so for me. Reviews are great, but there’s nothing like actually using a Razor for yourself to see if it’s going to work for you. The BBS-1 was my first ‘high end’ Razor, and I love everything about it from its origins, to its design, to the shave. I 100% am a BBS-1 Fanboy. It could easily be my one and only Razor if my hand were forced.

Any low gap WR1 or WR2 will be efficient and smooth.

Guys, if I want to pick a Wolfman razor that shaves like a Karve Overlander (as secure & efficient), what WR1 or WR2 it should be?

I borrowed an aluminum Overlander for a week, then went back to a Ti WR2 .95 and, even at such a low gap, it still had more blade feel than the Overlander. It doesn’t bother me though. So I think if you were trying to get a similar feel, you’d probably have to use something like a WR2 .85 or lower or one of the lowest gapped WR1s. But it’s probably wise not to look for exactly the same thing in a different razor. Plus, it’s expensive to experiment.

My name has been called. I want a WR2 1.55 but the question is do I get the OC or not? I have the max gap WR3 OC and enjoy it. I know the general consensus is that the SB is the way to go for WR2. Anyone have particular experience with both? I’ve tried the 1.35 SB and wanted more efficiency. I own a OC Blackbird and enjoy it but prefer a tad more efficiency. Will the Wolfman be smooth enough in OC? Thanks in advance

I can vouch for the efficacy of the SS 1.55 SB. I haven't gone with an OC in that gap. 

Now Karve says, on their website, that an OC of a given gap is the equivalent of a higher gap. There are some that agree with that, others that don't. 

I've got a few DCs for that exact reason. Even with those, the difference IME between OC & SB of the same gap is subtle. 

With Wolfman gaps the old saying, "You pays your money, and you takes your chances." is the way it goes.

I think he has done a 1.75mm gap in WR2...1.55 was the end of the road for me, but why not go all the way?
