Anyone know where the waitlist is at nowadays? Put my name on the list in Nov 2021

I submitted the google form in early November 2021, paid my invoice last Friday

I submitted my google form on Nov 2nd 2021 and received a "confirm or cancel" email (within 30 days) No option to kick the can down the road and 'postpone' like last year. 

Dragging my feet because I can't decide if I want to pay nearly double for 'premium dark antique' or just go with basic polished bronze.

I had the same dilemma. Decided to go with the basic polished. I had some success with aging brass and hope that a bronze razor would not be too finicky either.

That's exactly where I'm at. I too have experimented with antiquing brass, Brian Twilly gave me the rundown on how he does it and I've had good luck with it.

My order in Nov was for a 0.80 WR1 SB with the Darwin handle. That hasn't changed. 

My issue now is whether I want to pay for the WRA2 stand. Costing more than the razor head.

So I did a google for C954 Bronze to check out the properties. Turns out one of the characteristics is 'hard to machine.' So that may account for the added cost for the deluxe version.

The Copper is a mind blowing price. More than any of the others in basic polish. I guess the material costs must be reflected in that. I wouldn't think wearing out tool bits would be an issue.

I bit the bullet and got the antique Bronze. Now that I have it I’m glad I did.

I ordered an antique bronze WR3. Can’t wait to get that one.

I did consider a copper WR1, but I do not like the way it looks with patina. This time I ordered a bronze .74 WR1SB with a WRH7. To my eye it is the most appealing combination in bronze. It will complete my bronze “renaissance”  set consisting of a bronze watch, a Visconti Homosapien Bronze Age FP and a bronze Wolfe.

Copper is really weird for me. Absolutely beautiful when polished but I have some copper razors that patina very smooth like my H&S P076 DC but some that patina horribly like my Alpha Outlaw. I think it’s the grade of copper used for said razors. Seems like the copper that is used by Aji at H&S is much higher in quality. I have noticed that the Carbon copper razors also patina pretty smoothly and I have a shave brother that has a copper WR3 and his still looks awesome after having it for a couple months with no polishing. It looks so good in his SOTD’s that I asked him what he has been using to polish it because he never polishes his copper stuff. I was shocked when he told me he had not polished his WR3 at all. I’m sure James is using an extremely high grade of copper to make his razors which does not surprise me at all. I will definitely get a copper WR2 next time around.

JimmyH, care to share the Antiquing rundown?

Actually it's pretty simple. I had ordered a bright hammered handle, the antique finish was out of stock. So I emailed and asked if he would share how he does it. To my surprise he told me to buy some Birchwood Casey Brass Black and simply follow the instructions on the label. 

So I got the stuff, and did so. Brian puts wax on the finished handle. All of that has to be removed. Alcohol does that trick. Applied with a paper towel/q-tip. I didn't do the steel wool rubdown as the handle had been finished by Brian. Applied the Brass Black with a q-tip liberally, and waited the minute, rinsed in cold water. I didn't do further applications to make it darker as noted in the instructions on the label, as it wasn't necessary. 

I've also done it on a Maze CG handle and polished on a buffing wheel afterwards, to have the grooves be dark, and the raised portion more defined. I'm thinking if I do this with the Basic Polish Bronze WR1 & handle I can come close to the antiqued look I desire.

You can see the aforementioned Maze on the left, and the hammered which I left bright on either end for a two tone effect. 

Received my proceed or not within 30 days mail from Tara yesterday. Just saw it today, was in spam folder.
Signed up December 12.

Now I don’t know what to do…Initially I signed up for a WR2 Ti, but I’m not sure what to get.

If I want a razor very similar in efficiency and security to the Karve Overlander, for example, what WR1 or WR2 should I get?
