I don't know whats stopping James D from taking this gap up to 1mm
IMO it would be sweet... but I don't exactly know the science of these things.
Someone should ask him (nude nudge) Wink

I've been hammering DuFour for a 1.02 for years. If you look at the 94, the guard is pretty thin. James claims there is not enough guard material to go beyond 94. Damned shame too....a 1.02 would be awesome.

I already sent Loot a photo of my patent pending design about a year ago.

Not to derail this thread from Wolfman but this is the gap that I shaved with this morning on the new titanium Taiga! If I counted correctly, that is at setting 8 which is about 1 and a half gaps higher than the original Taiga would go and it doesn’t stop there. Huge and still smooth! If James releases a 1.02 on the WR1, I am in! The WR2 1.65 is a killer but still smooth for me!

Interesting, is this something that can be seen in a photo? Like a comparison of the 94 guard vs a lower gap?

Yes, you can see the difference. Here are my WR2s. 165 on the left, 115 on the right. Notice the guards go from thinner to thicker. That is how he gets the different gaps, as best I can tell. Just adjust the thickness of safety bar. I could be wrong but this is my understanding of my convos with the man himself.[Image: d16f53efe4e7e53594b9208c1efdd1b8.jpg]

With these gaps, why not try straight shaving, if not already?

Is there an easy way to tell the different gaps on the WR1 without taking measurements?

I've tried to take measurements with an inexpensive feeler gauges.
I'm more confident in using a feeler
gauge on a spark plug gap. Maybe I just need more practice at it.

Nope. Not that I know of. Feeler gauges are the only way to be certain.
