You might be right, LOOT.  I'm definitely going for one of the highest gaps for my next one.  By any chance, have you ever tried the ATT H1 or ATT H2? (I loved those but were a bit harsh, but shaves were super close)

I had H1 before, I found it a bit harsh for me.
I can comfortably use my 1.55 even for a daily shave. But better for 2-3 days growth.
1.55DC is my best safety razor. I like OC side more, when I have a week growth.

Thanks for that input,  thats some high praise for 1.55!

I could easily use the 1.55 as a daily diver. I find it smoother than the Blackbird.

My next Wolfman is a WR2 1.55 in open comb. I've received the email, but I'm in a year-long sabbatical, and otherwise prefer to have it delivered to my office, which is closed. I'm pleased to follow this thread.

if you prefer a 'mild' gap like a tech, gc 68-sb, or a .70 mamba for example, what gap would someone suggest?
i have always considered a dual comb with open being the less aggressive and sb 1 notch more aggressive

i'd imagine i could go to a bigger gap in a wolfman and still get a mild feel, and a better efficiency

I think it is the opposite, OC is a gap, or so, more aggressive than SB.

No experience with the razors you've listed for comparison, so I cannot recommend a specific gap.

Somebody will be along.

I have the ATT H1 and H2. The H2 is a bit much for daily shaving for me but could happily use the H1 daily. To me it is smoother than my WR2 1.45 OC for daily use. When my turn comes up again, I'm going to get the 1.45 SB to compare.

The 1.45 Oc has definite bite that the 1.45 Sb does not,
A blade forward feel
There is a very noticeable difference between the two,
My 1.45 Oc found a new home but the 1.45 Sb is still the desert island shaver......for me.... Cool

This comparison would be very interesting. Just stumbled onto the ATT H1 by chance and find it to be very smooth for the level of efficiency it offers. The 1.45 SB is the one I‘ve been eyeing since I had a 1.25 on loan and kept asking myself how much more is possible.

In the WR2 I find the SB to be a much more comfortable shave as compared to the OC. Now in the WR1 I find my .94 OC to be very smooth.
