The thing I began to notice ... I shave with various open combs so often, doing OC on the first pass, and SB on the second, that even if it is not a DC I shave with one side only for the first pass, and the other side only for the second. As if it were on open comb, though it isn't. Force of habit.
Edit ; I translated the post I'm quoting to "I love dual combs" instead of 'open combs'. That's why I rattled on about dual combs ... Senior moment, but I still do love OCs, and SBs

Nice...how does it balance? you find it head heavy?
All of the WR1’s I’ve had or still have have been OC’s. I read many times in researching threads how in the WR1 head the feel was similar between the SB and the OC ...so I always opted for the OC when making that’s split second purchase during a drop. The OC in the WR1 is very smooth with the teeth of the comb being smooth and the teeth not spaced out to far from one another. I always shave on at least 3 days growth and the OCs are great at this especially on the first pass. My first WR2 was a DC and I found minimal to zero difference in efficiency between the two sides and I felt the SB was a touch smoother. I now only have SB in the WR2 head and feel I give nothing up even on those first passes on 3 days growth. I just prefer the feel better but the OC was still very nice. I think the larger native gaps on the WR2 just allow it to tackle the extra hair and my pasty lathers just fine. It’s a completely different head design than the WR1 so it’s apples to oranges imo. For me the choice of comb in the WR2 was more about feel and nothing to do with efficiency. I’ve become a big proponent of larger gap with neutral to minimal positive exposure. I think this a recipe on my face at least for a super smooth shaver. I can’t say enough how the WR2 head geometry just fits all my preferences. Very proud owner here and I’ve never tired of the joy these quality instruments have brought me. Regardless of price certain things just emanate quality and I get that every time I pick up a Wolfman.
I've arrived at the point where I am getting some exquisite shaves with the 1.45 and 1.55 gaps.
I just hold the handle as loosely as possible and apply expansive, feathery light strokes where it barely feels like
the head is contacting the face. This is in contrast to when I was gripping the handle tight and shaving with more
deliberate strokes. This may be a foregone conclusion for many, but I am a slow learner who only realises something
when I try it not when Im told.

I share the same feeling with the WR1, I prefer the OC to the SB. I’ve never had the opportunity to use an OC WR2, but I certainly can’t argue with the results I get with the WR2 SB. I have no problems mowing down several days growth with any of my WR2’s. I too get a great amount of joy when I use my Wolfman Razors, something I look forward to regularly.
