My experience with a 3/7 mirror polished and a 3/7 brushed were that they felt different in use. The bottom part of the handle (the part with the deep grooves) was much less grippy on the mirror version. On magnifying, the reason was the mirror polishing buffed the edges of the grooves and made them smoother and less sharp. For that reason I am leaning toward the basic finish because it receives even less buffing than the Satin version. The head recieving the Satin finish might improve it's glide some (reduce stiction?) and be a good thing.

I may be in the minority or majority here but heres my 2 cents on the subject of Wolfman high polished handles being slippery during a shave.
I’ve shaved with 6 different gap WR1’s and 5 different gap WR2’s with all the handle style options available represented in those shaves and all but 2 were high polished and I’ve never had any issues with any of the handles being noticeably slippery.

In that case am with Hunter - don't create a chimera finished razor whether for resale nor ownership satisfaction reasons - keep it harmonious with a single finish

Not hardly. I just have some experience on which I've formed an initial opinion. It's definitely helpful to hear the opinions of others because that will help me to solidify which way to go.

If you had a problem with slipping on the handle I'd say it was the 3, not necessarily the finish. At least that's my experience. I love the look of the 7 best, next the 3, but the best handle for grip is the 2, and the 1 is just as good for that.

The only Wolfman I've had with a basic/matte is the Guerrilla. The handle was slippery so I knurled it myself. The finish was/is nice. 

I've got the mirror on a number of WR1s, and on one WR2, and the upcharge polish on another WR2. I can't keep track of the names ... it is the step down from mirror, and is more money ... and I like it very much. Subtly different than the matte or basic @ no extra charge finishes, but worth the $ to me. YMMV  

While I’ve never been a super shiny kinda guy with anything, my WM den is strictly high polish at this point. No idea if they shave smoother but part of me feels like the high polish showcases his talents the best. Agree that the wipe down is super easy too.

Basic brushed or satin brushed?

I lean heavily towards brushed satin.....it lives up to its descriptor very accurately.
I understand it is polished to almost mirror levels before being lightly brushed for a
silky sheen. The upcharge seems negligible when you factor in the sexiness of
this finish. I also find it incredibly easy to maintain.

From a budget POV, basic brushed will also get you the same shave. I dont quite
see all these minutes differences contributing to less/more glide, at least not to
enough to notice during a shave.
