For those who are interested here is a comparison of a BBS-1 1.0mm gap compared to a Wolfman Wr2 1.45 gap,
Even on my camera zoom the difference in gaps is easily seen, the Wr2 is a whole 0.45mm bigger.

JimmyH asked in a previous post if it would be possible to measure a blade gap with a Vernier gauge,
The answer no, not really on smaller gaps, I just managed to capture this for your interest,

Not quite e-nuff  Rolleyes When I found the Above The Tie page comparing gaps of many production razors, current, and past, I googled to find specific feeler gauges. At that time all I could find were very expensive one off gauges in the various Wolfman gaps. So I forgot about it.

Where do get your gauges ? Snap On ? Starrett ? I am interested in checking out my herd.

These are the feeler gauges I bought to play with gap measuring.

Could you provide a link to the particular set I would need ? I'm a bit challenged when it comes to figuring out the numbers on the page ... for example, the link that LOOT kindly provided baffles me. I don't see the specific numbers, 0.74, 0.86, 0.94, 1.25 etcetera

Normally a set of feeler guages shall have many different blades sizes, selecting the exact combination of blades to measure the gap and then add up the blades is the way to go.
Here is a pic 4U, this should clarify the process

You won't find a specific set to match your wolfman gaps. To get to the desired thickness, you simply add 2 or 3 of them together to get the desired thickness. The blades are flexible and can be stacked without removing the individual blades. IT's pretty easy to do.

Not trying to butt in on the conversation, just offering some info.

No more than I use them, a $7 set works just fine.

Ahhh ... now it grows even more complicated ... (for a lot of things, if you've never done it, it is complicated , once you have, it become easy)

So when I wanted to measure gap I looked up buying a precision ground blade in each of the gaps.

I was able to find some but they were prohibitively expensive (for me, not worth the price to fulfill the purpose)

So I'm wondering how accurate individual blades pressed together could be ? As opposed to a precision ground 1.25 ?

Last BUT NOT LEAST .... are these measurements we list for Wolfman, and others inch or metric ?

Demonstrating my lack of edumacation ...  Blush

Feeler gauges are VERY accurate, an Engineers tool to measure gaps precisely & to very fine tolerances in fact.
Wolfman uses Metric but feeler gauges can have both metric & Imperial measurements stamped on the blades as seen in the pic I sent you....

Help me out Jim, I left school at 15 years old to travel the road of the sunburned thumb, as Woody Guthrie called it, and vagabonded around the country until @ 19 I joined the Ironworker's union and erected structural steel for 20 years. I learned whatever math was necessary for that trade and no more.

So what is a 1.25 gap ? Is James referring to inch or metric in that designation ?

mm...all gaps are measured in mm, afaik. A 1.25" WR2 would be impressive. I think that's what @"iamsms" was going for with the 3 nylon washer shims. Smile
