The razor is very loud this way, kinda scrappy, quite a bit of blade chatter. But not really uncomfortable, the raw blade feel is unmistakable. No cuts or nicks, shave was definitely closer than regular 1.15SB.

In the first past with three shims, did the base plate even touch your face??

I don't think so.

I don't think so.

If the efficiency is not enough for you now, recommend you add more blades between the shims.
I am sure 3 blades WR2 with 3.5mm gap will help you. Big Grin

I like it!! So what did you do just took some calipers and started checking the plastic you can find, for the thickness? I've got a new set of cheap calipers just waiting for some plastic, lol. I could take my .74 OC WR1 and give it the old plastic shim bump up, yes!

A picture is worth 1000 words.  Tools, completed .66mm WR2 shim and the blank I used, .40mm "peanut" shim inside the head.  It's a pretty simple process.  I used a Feather to trace, I finally found a positive use for the effen glue!

I can clearly see the clear shim, now that I got a better look, so I'll say I think I'm clear on it.

My WR2 is 1.05 and I can only be satisfied with the result of shaving it when I make three passes (WTG + XTG + ATG). But three daily passes hurt my skin after five days in a row, so trying to get an equal result using only two passages (WTG + ATG), I tried shim this week.

I used cut Feather blade for the wedge.

At first I tried only with one blade (theoretically turning my WR2 to 1.15) but, being very honest, I hardly saw any difference in effectiveness, the result didn't satisfy me.

I then tried using two shims (going approximately to 1.25).

So I got a better result but it still hasn't satisfied me with two passes.

I will not try to put another shim. After these tests I wonder if just adding the two shims will make WR2 1.05 really behave like a WR2 1.25 ....

I don't know if adding shims changes anything from the blade angle to an original 1.25 ...

I don't even know if an original 1.25 would be able to meet my goal of making only two passes

Anyway, I will use my WR2 again as original (1.05) and doing three passes with each shave.

An interesting turn to this thread ... the shimming I mean. I have the 1.15/1.25 DC and that is fine. The 1.55 SB LOOT kindly loaned me was nirvana. If I ever get that 3rd email from James that is what I'll order, though probably in a DC 1.45OC/1.55SB.

I've shaved with the Karve F SB plate a few times now @ 1.22 gap. It is very good .... but .... speaking only for myself, I have to be cautious. With either the 1.25, or 1.55 WR2 I felt totally relaxed and in control at all times.

I'm still one, like many here, who likes to 'push the envelope'. I have a Karve OC F plate, and a SB G plate coming.  Smile
