Wolfman WR2 Head Discussion

For the benefit of anyone concerned about marking a polished razor.....
Here is a shim I cut for the purpose of a previous post example sat on a Wolfman Guerrilla base plate,

As can be seen, the shim when compressed shall be over the contact area of the base plate showing that no possibility of marking a polished razor could occur any more than a std blade.

Okay...

So Who's Going To Be the First to Put A Blade / Shim / Blade / Shim / Blade And Make The First Multi Blade WOLFMAN !?!

Too few blades.  You need like five.  You see, the first blade pulls the hair, the second pulls it a little further...the fifth blade actually cuts it.

But Wait A Minute! Isn't this what we came here to get away from!?? LOL!

Seriously... Don't anybody try this... It would surely end up with a Hospital Visit!!

The problem is the oxidation on the blade used as shim.

The blade we use for shaving is changed with few uses so there is less risk of intense oxidation.

Whatever is used for shim will not be changed as often and therefore will have a higher oxidation.

The shim I used as an example is stainless and as such should not oxidise any more than a stainless razor, or stain any more than a blade left in a razor when wet for any length of time, 
Common sense should apply here....if a shim is clean at the point of use and non oxidised then how can it cause any staining?

I don't think anyone would put an oxidised shim in a Wolfman.

Disclaimer:
Starman recommends stainless shims, and not using a shim if oxidised to prevent stain transfer....

Just for clarity, one blade shim would take a 1.25 to 1.30 or 1.35?

Here is a quick shot of the exact blade I used as an example shim, measuring exactly 0.10

So yes, 1 x blade shim is in the ballpark of increasing a 1.15 to 1.25 for example...

Other blades may vary in minute measurements, but negligible within shaving tolerances...this is of course my personal view....

Tomorrow I will be turning my WR2 1.05 to 1.25 using two shims

Can I ask why you are going up 2 sizes from 105 to 125?

What are your initial thoughts pre shave?

Can I ask why you are going up 2 sizes from 105 to 125?

What are your initial thoughts pre shave?

In my last shave I used one shim (rising from 1.05 to 1.15) and I'm not sure if there was really a gain in efficiency.

So I will take the test tomorrow with two shims.
