That third email.......
Does anyone else get the same feeling as waiting for that elusive drop?

Indeed, I despaired of getting the second email, and it came 12 days after my google form confirmation. Now I'm on pins & needles waiting ... waiting ...  Confused

I have started using my WR-2 1.15 SB with WRH-2 again. I am not 'getting' this razor. After my regular 3 passes there are some stubble left which I take care or by doing some buffing and clean up. While the ATG pass and those touch ups aren't the most comfortable, they are comfortable enough.

But i get noticeable amount of aftershave burn after that (which I don't get with plethora of my other razors - from mild to aggressive). It feels like the razor is biting without me feeling anything.

In the past, I have used 0.95 but wasn't too impressed either - a bit milder than what I like to use. My experience with WR-2 seems a lot different than everyone else (at least those who are vocal here).

Any tips?

I can't comment on the Wr2 specifically,
Excuse me for suggesting this if obvious, Have you tried riding the cap/higher shave angle?
Blade drag could cause irritation on some efficient razors if the shave angle is too low. I have read that the Wr2 has a narrow optimum shave angle?...
Feather blades sometimes can have the same effect on me in efficient razors,
Perhaps also look to the blades you use?

I have tried 3 blades so far - Wizamet, Feather and Personna Red for the current run.

I haven't really noticed what kind of angle I am using - I usually just find the angle that shaves. But I will try riding the cap next week.

Try an Astra SP. I've noticed with my WR2 1.15 SB that it's sensitive to blades... I get a super close shave w/ No Irritation I do WTG, ATG, XTG, and almost No Touch ups. It leaves my Skin Wonderfully Smooth! I do give it a break with a Milder Combo after 2 to 3 shaves or so...

It's an Amazing Razor... I think you just have to find your sweet spot with it.

I use an angle closer to the cap. Riding the guard puts the blade perpendicular to my face which then causes lots of irritation. One problem is that the angle is narrow. Feathers don't work. Astra SP seem to work very well. It is your call though. It is a decent razor but by no means shaving nirvana. just my 2 cents.

If you look closely at the WR2 SB guard at eye level, you will see a row of vertical ridges that taper upwards into a mild slope. That slope is the bit that
helps you find the angle...I just put that in contact with my face and go.

Regarding your face burn issues with 1.15...it could very well be that:

1. your beard growth is just cut out for a higher gap.
2. too much buffing

You didn't say how often you use the 1.15.
Maybe your hair grows in many directions...so you could try to feel the stubble direction and make adjustments.
I end up employing some pretty bizarre strokes as a result.
If you get a chance to try a 1.35 or 1.45, I think it may obviate the need to buff and prove to be more comfortable.

+1 on the Astra sp, another blade I find very good is the GSB, both are my go to blades in this same situation if a particular razor causes any sensitivity...

Shave 3/7 1.45SB

Yawn...another boringly, predictably efficient and smooth shave with nothing extraordinary to report.
Skin feels no stress or irritation.

I did make two changes:

• Switched to a 64gm WRH1 mirror polished handle....mix and match between mirror handle and satin head doesn't
bother me at all. The added 24 gms didn't add any aggression but I think I prefer the manoeuvrability of the 40gm
wrh7 hollow handle in my hands.

• Used a new Wizamet that just arrived this morning. I dont want to compare it to the pol silver just yet
because it's my first go...but it's a lovely blade...sharp enough and smoooooth....complements the WR2 head
very well.
