I liked the way the Blackbird machined finish looked....if Wolfman's basic matte resembles or exceeds that,
it would be ok. The machined BB's glide wasn't that smooth on the cheek though.

The WR1 brushed satin finish was worlds better than the B-bird machined. So was the Wolfman Guerrilla. I suspect James's matte finish will be similar, if not the same as the Guerrilla, which is surprisingly nice. BTW, I like the B-bird machine finish just fine. Great shaver.

I think the BB glide or lack thereof is more so a result of the geometry than it is with the finish. For example, the GC .84 is more of a semi-matte finish and glides wonderfully across the face while the BB in polished does not glide as well. The BB is my #1 razor but the one thing I noticed with this razor since day one is the reduced glide compared to other razors. Makes it seem some soaps are not quite slick enough but with other razors these soaps are waay slick. Maybe a BB v2 is on the horizon to improve upon this?  Angel

How has everyone found the 1.15 stainless SB head to deal with 3+ multi day growth (especially the first pass)? I’ve always used open comb razors as they made my first pass on 3+ days growth easiest... Only shave twice per week

The Stainless 1.15 SB takes care of three days growth for me no problem, it knocks it right down. If I could only have one WR2, the 1.15 would be it.

Unless you have super tricky hair the 1.15 SB is perfect for 3 days growth (works well when I let my friends try it out). As for me I unfortunately have tricky hair so I use the OC side of my 1.15 DC for first and second pass. Third pass is XTG and I only use the SB side for that and also for buffering / touch up. Between the two it serves me quite well.

Has anyone ever sent a polished razor back to James just for upkeep polishing? Is this something he offers on request? I’d love it if occasionally I can get back that perfect fresh polished finish since it’s so flawless...it also wouldn’t force me to baby these things as much. I know minor surface abrasions are part of the deal eventually even with light use and good care...but that perfect finish just adds to the experience for me. I’m going to fire off an email and see if he responds.

With the exception of the point under the base plate, where the handle tightens, I've gotten zero scratches, abrasions, what have you, on my Wolfman razors, or any other stainless polished razors. I just rinse, wipe, and put them away in a safe place.
