I found I have rekindled my love for my WR1. At one time, I had thought about selling it. I’m glad I kept it. It’s a great razor and it makes me want to give a .94 a spin.

The WR1 is an outstanding Razor. I especially like the larger blade gaps, they’re just as smooth but more efficient. I’ve used an .80 and an .86 in the WR1 SS, both OC and SB, and they were great Shavers. I also have a .86 SB WR1 in Ti, and it’s every bit as efficient but with a ‘soft’ face feel. I love it, it’s one of my favorite Razors. A good friend of mine just sent me his .94 in Stainless, so I haven’t shaved while I await it’s arrival, looking forward to it. The WR1 is definitely no slouch, and is one of my all time favorites as far as design and shaves I get out of it. Mine won’t ever be leaving my Den.

How big of a performance difference is the .80 from the .86? Is it kind of like the difference between the WR2 1.05 and 1.15?

I can’t make the comparison with the WR2 1.05 to 1.15 as I haven’t used the 1.05. The performance difference from WR1 .80 to .86 is noticeable in that the shave just lasts a little longer with the .86.

So the WR2 1.15 SB polished arrived this morning...superbly packed....double boxed.....head separate from handle,
both tightly secured so there was no 'play' during transit. I won't even rave about the looks any more as its pretty much
what we all have read. Spotless, scratch-less, gleaming. Assembled it quickly with a washer to protect the baseplate.

What I do want to mention is how it feels in my hand. Perfect.
The head weighs 33gm....the Darwin handle is 57 gm....so a total of 90gm.
Feels just right. Also, the Darwin is very secure and ergonomic...it is hard to see
this slipping out of a soapy wet hand, altho I never get my razor hand soapy or dripping wet.
A shave with this is about to happen, so will update....but looking at this gap, I question
if I will need anything higher...but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

So it appears I did get ahead of myself hehe.

After just 1 shave here's the top line for me and my face (using a brand new pol silver):

• The WR2 appears it was built for comfort first, everything else after.
• Angle was easy to find by riding the cap (same as NEW LC/RFB)...cutting edge does not make a lot of noise
• Blade gap looks formidable but feels quite harmless
• WR2 1.15 SB gave me efficiency > a Blackbird SB, but heaps smoother and enjoyable
• Could I take a 1.25 blade gap in this head...hell yeah....do I want to? I don't know yet.
• Im now beginning to think the WR1 would be a totally different experience and almost impossible to compare to a WR2 head because
they would feel so different on the face. I think I HAVE to get a WR1 just to mix it up a bit...I have a feeling that the blade exposure on that
head makes for delightful feedback. I like how my face feels during and after a 1.15 shave....so now the WR1 blade gap deliberations begin:
74, 80, 86, 91 or 94......gaaaaahhhhh! It's going to drive me nuts.

Bottom Line: It must take superhuman control to limit oneself to just one Wolfman. I would love a WR1 I can use every day
or at least every other day. What a zen-like triumph it would be to clear the den of all razors and have just two
beautiful pieces– a WR2 and a WR1 – doing their work daily.

Note on soap: Used B&M Cheshire instead of my usual SV 4.3....with the latter, my face felt smooth but a little shiny and sticky....with the B&M it feels
just smooth. Funny that.

In my opinion the Darwin handle is better with a WR1 head. I think the Darwin doesn't balance a WR2 head so well.

Congrats on your first Wolfman! Not much can prepare you for that first unboxing. The mirror finish always impresses. Welcome to the madness.

A good Friend of mine sent me his WR1 .94 SB with WRH7 XL Handle to try out (as well as some awesome Soap/Splash/EdT). I used a Gillette Nacet, and I did a full three passes. This is probably the closest shave I’ve ever had, the closest thing I’ve used that I can compare it to is the 2013 R41. The Shave was outstanding and mowed through three days of growth with ease. The large gap of the WR1 maintained its smoothness while providing the extra efficiency. There was lots of Blade feel which I enjoyed, and I think it made it easy for me to get a good shave. My skin feels like glass after the shave and I have no irritation. This is definitely not a Razor that I could shave with on a daily basis, but I would love to have one in the Den for those occasions when I have several days worth of growth. The WRH7 XL is beautiful and felt great in hand, this Razor definitely has a lot of shine to it! This was an awesome shave, and I’m grateful for my Friends generosity in loaning it to me. Wolfman Razors are hard to come bye, so it’s nice to be able to try some of the different blade gaps before attempting to buy. I would be interested in trying a WR2 1.25 in Stainless to see if it maintains the smoothness that I feel the WR1 does with increased Blade Gap.

Im currently stuck on which WR1 head to get ....after trying the WR2 1.15 SB, I don't want anything that could be milder.

If you could post a close-up picture of the 0.94 WR1 blade gap, that would be great.

I’m on Shift today and tomorrow, but I’ll be able to try to get a close up pic of the .94 Blade Gap on Sunday. As far as the WR1 Blade Gap goes, I would suggest .80 and up.

I can get you some pics of a 94Ti, if it would help. In fact, I can side by side a 115 too.

Those 2 shaves are miles apart though.
