The WR2 (1.15) was just OK. I like the Blackbird and Charcoal Goods L2 more. Sold the Wolfman.

Mine is opposite, I have WR1 .91 and CG L2 & L3.
I feel much more comfortable with WR1. It is much easier to use.
But probably keep both, since CG is a pretty good razor, too.

Just, received WR2 with high gap, let's see how it will work.
Took 10 days for shipping to US, 1 week for production after payment.

Congrats on the new razor. Send pics. What gap/finish you get?

I got 1.55 DC, hopefully will not be too aggressive for me.
I forgot it in my office, today.
I got budget polished this time.
Since it is considerable cheaper,
also to take care mirror polished razor is not that easy.
I am using WR1 so often, and got some fine scratches over the cap.

This is exactly what I am going to get when I get my invoice but I am going for 1.45 on the OC side and 1.55 on the SB side. Very interested to see the “budget” matte finish up close. Please post some close up pics of this one when you open it tomorrow please.

Living on the edge
Here's my "personal" angle:

I found the CG Lv 2 SB head feels a little smoother than the WR1 80 (OC) and 86 (SB) heads.
I suspect it's due to the fairly evident blade feel of WR1.
WR2 1.45 and 1.55 are easily smoother than all three of the above mentioned.

And the Ti 1.55 is even smoother than the 1.45 SS....mind boggling.

All of this talk about low versus high gaps stimulated me to dig out my seldom used BBS-1. IIRC it is supposedly 1.00. Not strictly a low gap, but certainly lower than the latest WR2 gaps we're seeing. Also, a member put his LABBS-1 up in the BST for a few days, and has since stated that he had "a moment of clarity" and has withdrawn it.

So I popped a new Feather blade in mine and had a wonderful, smooth, close ... dare I say ... BBS shave. As I said, I haven't shaved with this much at all since I got it. I bought this second hand, from the original owner, and I paid much more than I would have if I'd have gotten it directly from LA Shaving, but much less than what they began to bring after John Brown announced that James would no longer make them.

So I used it a few times, but kept it as a collectible more than a working shaver. What a shaver it is ... to me anyway. Simply one of the smoothest, most efficient razors I've ever used.

As far as CG versus WR1 or WR2 ... For my phizzog a Lv 2 SB is equivalent to a Timeless .68, which means it ain't delivering the goods. OTOH, a Lv 2 OC is very effective/efficient. The Lv 3 SB, or OC is a great shaver, but I find I have to use a light touch to avoid irritation.

I really like the Charcoal Goods razors but wouldn't put the CGs in the same league as the Wolfman in the higher gaps. YMMV [Image: Rp4Lzcu.jpg]

Jimmy, I agree with you completely. I just used my BBS-1 yesterday after seeing the same post. I also use a Feather or Gillette Platinum in mine, and it’s still one of the best shavers that I own. I always get an effortless BBS shave with it, and it’s a beauty to boot. The BBS-1 Handle is my favorite made by Dufour. The Head is lighter than the WR2, but it doesn’t negatively affect the shave for me. I waited 19 months for mine, and it was well worth the wait for me. Out of all the Razors I own, this is one of my most treasured. I use mine at least once a month, but I need to use it more often.

Two great looking shaves there men. Someone should have bought that #100. It looked to be in great shape.

Beautiful. I'd imagine that finish is pretty close to polished Ti...or 95%-ish mirror.

Did you use it? I'm curious about the face feel SB v OC...and if you notice any difference in efficiency.
