Hello Gents,

for all that have used both (WR2 and WR1). I have a karve razor with a C plate (0.85mm) which I enjoy using with my go to blade polsilver. For me is the perfect gap for efficiency and smoothness. what would the karve C plate be the equivalent gap in the WR1 & WR2 please? in terms of smoothness and efficiency.

I have a question about handles for the WR2. I currently have a stainless WR1 with a WRH7 and a WRH2. What do people recommend as far as balance with the WR2 head? I like the look of the WRH2 but I'm wondering about the weight.  The WRH7 is classic Wolfman but I don't think a skinny handle looks as good as a thicker one with this head. Also, has anybody had any experience with the hollowed-out handles yet? I'm wondering how they would be as far as balance.

I like mild-medium agressive razors such as CG Lvl2, WR1 .54 and .61, Paradigm Ti2, Timeless 0,95 Ti, Blackbird SB.
I also like light razors so the hollow handle option was obvious.

These razors are too agressive for me: Barbaros TR2, WR1 .67 or above, Classic Cobra.

The WR2 .95 is a mild razor, with little blade feel and quite good efficiency, depending on the balance as you said.

I used the WR2 twice.
First time with a WR1 80mm hollow and it was lacking efficiency, especially on SB side and no blade feel at all.
Second shave with a standard Wolfman handle.
It has been much better. Little blade feel, still very very comfortable, and efficiency increased. I got a very comfortable 2 pass shave. It can be a daily driver with this configuration.

Btw I have tried the WR1 .61 with the hollow handle and it was excellent. A bit less comfortable and more efficient than WR2 but it was still an awesome shave.

Conclusion
I’ll try to get a WR2 1.05 with a hollow handle in regular length Wink

I was able to get in on this round of razors after trying hard for a long time. I ordered a 1.05 sb. It was a miracle I got this one so I'm debating seeing if I should try to switch it to a dc since the odds of getting a oc anytime soon are extremely slim. My question is this, does anyone have a dc and notice any difference between the two sides? I am a daily Shaver mostly so not sure it'd even be worth it.

I too shave daily and see no reason for OC other than I think it looks cool.

That's kind of my thought as well. It's rare that I go more than 3 days max without shaving so the purpose of having the oc could be missed.

It was a few days late, but it was well worth the wait. The reward was the...best...shave...EVER!

James smashed it out of the park here my friends.  The WRH7XL is large and heavy. A giant leap forward from the std size which I have but find too dainty. Paired with the WR2 head, it balance at the heel of the knurling allowing head extension from the grip point.  It was plenty grippy and the additional length allows me to rest the butt on my pinky.  In my hand, it's perfect. It felt a little lighter than my WRH1 100mm but just as present.

1st pass - XTG face, WTG neck open comb side on 4 days growth.  It's smooth like the WR2-95SB, so yes, the head will maintain that buttery smooth feel across the blade gaps.  I'm thinking WR1-86+in efficiency with blade feel closer to a 74.  This razor took everything down in 1 pass.  I could have stopped and been presentable for a full work shift, date, church, etc.

2nd pass - XTG face, ATG neck safety bar side. I immediately prefer the SB face feel.  If there is a slight efficiency gain with OC, I don't care.  It's not worth the difference in face feel to me.  Plenty of blade feel but it's just butter smooth.  The head is slightly taller/rounder than the WR1 and feels like it. My neck is 80% BBS and that is a better result than average.

3rd/4th pass face only WTG/ATG - Essentially clean up passes, very little to do although I knew exactly where the blade was the entire time.  My face map is odd.  It's easier to do full WTG/ATG passes if I want to be as smooth as possible.  I end up with a better shave.

With only 1 shave, it's the best razor I own. No question.  The WR1's are great pieces of hardware but the WR2-125/WRH7XL is in a class by itself.  If I am going to be super picky, I'd trade it for the SB head.  The DC was the easiest way for me to confirm which I preferred but that is settled now. SB is the only way for me. It eliminates the real or imagined effects of uneven blade wear.

I'll give it a weeks worth of shaves and report back. Happy shaves my friend.

I have said since the beginning that this head has killed my RAD. I just don’t see how it can get any better. Glad to hear your thoughts on the OC. I have stuck with SB and it sounds like I made the right choice.

LOVE the jumbo 7. Can you weigh that thing in grams for me on a kitchen scale or something???

I’m going to let the cat out of the bag after seeing LOOT do his review. I was able to order a WR2 1.25 DC brushed finish head with my the WRH3 96mm hollow handle. I am bouncing off the walls! After reading that review, I am certain that I made the right choice in gap. James actually sent me an email asking if I was sure that I wanted that gap as it is the most aggressive he makes. I responded, DEFINITELY!! I love aggressive razors but after seeing LOOT’s review, I am salivating on this one and I think it might be the last razor I purchase for a long time!!

Absolutely.

WRH7XL -15.5mm x 98mm x 92g
WRH1XL - 14.2mm x 100mm x 105g

You nailed the head my friend. I can't see it getting any better. It's efficient. It has blade feel. It's smooth. Checks all of my boxes with ease. There are few more efficient razors but I don't have anything smoother. It has the same nonthreatening, forgiving feel of larger gap WR1s.
