Jimmy…. Today is May 10, 2022

You’re saying the bronze .80 WR1 delivering on May 11 is your final razor order?

I’ll take this bet, YOU Sir are NOT done, hahahaha.  It’s the thought that counts tho!

Haha, I need a stinking titanium.
Don't get mad Jimmy I'm just joking with you too.
We can change our minds, sometimes it's best if we do.
Keith, what’s your gap in WR1?

I sold off my wr1 razors. I had tried .74, 80, 86 and 94 and prefer the Wr2.
  Currently have Wr2  1.35,1.45,1.55 in SS & 1.55 in TI,  1.65

Have a few days to decide on my current order before the 30 days expire.

Brilliant speed shaver.  If you’ve not tried it, do so.  In terms of WR1, .48, .54 and .80 are my gaps.  WR2 is brilliant at 1.25 and I really like 1.00.  .95 is meh for me.  BBS1 is my jam, I don’t think I’m going to do much exploratory work with WR2 base plates.  I MIGHT order a .85 or .90 however that won’t be done until I have all the handles and heads I want, actually NEED, lol.  I did the same with my CG stuff, I like to try new things.

“Fedsbackhand” has a chart that points out the exact gaps where “blade feel” changes.  In this case .48 and .54 is a definite change as is .80 and .86.

I did get Copper and I did get Bronze and there’s a couple more incoming of other flavours Sir

Oh yes, .48 is super duper mild and I like mild razors (but not exclusively). Definitely milder than the .95 IMO. Think I was too quick to sell mine.

Don't say that Rob about the BBS-1... there's no way I can afford to try it but now I want to...

Here's that chart once again for those interested

.86 = 0.25mm EFFICIENT
.80 = 0.17mm
.74 = 0.17mm
.67 = 0.10mm
.61 = 0.10mm STANDARD GAP
.54 = 0.10mm
.48 = 0.02mm MILD

Interesting info. Help an old mathematically challenged guy out .... how can 0.74 and 0.80 both be = 0.17mm ? Are they that close together to show no mm difference ?

BTW, the 0.74 is one of my favorites, and the 0.86 is cool, but not as cool as the 0.74 (a bit less forgiving)

The second column is the exposure (the distance the blade protrudes beyond the imaginary line drawn across the gap from the cap to the guard). It doesn't have any relationship to the gap, although increasing the exposure increases efficiency and aggressiveness similar to increasing the gap. As razor designs go up in efficiency, they tend to see increases in both. In my experience, exposure increases give more of a feeling of agressiveness than gap increases, while both provide an efficiency bump.

My bronze basic finish WR1 0.80 came home yesterday evening. UPS was running late and I didn't get it until 8PM so decided to wait until this morning to shave.

Lathered with MDC and used a Feather on its 2nd time around. More blade feel than my 0.74 SS but that was expected. I'm going to shave with this one awhile before I decide it is THE one.

So the prices being what they are I went with Basic Polish. I sent an email to Tara this morning 'Mistake With My Order' ....

"James must have made a mistake ... this bronze WR1/Darwin/WRA2 stand couldn't possibly be BASIC polished !

It is impeccable and shines like the sun !!! I couldn't imagine a polish job that would be superior !!"

My poor photos don't do it justice. I'll be doing the 'antiquing' on it soon.

Beautiful razor Jimmy, congratulations! After a few shaves please do a compare and contrast between the .74 and .80 blade gaps. I’m looking for that elusive combination of comfort and efficiency from the WR1… I’ve narrowed it down to these two gaps.

Gorgeous Jimmy, sweet!
I think the Darwin handle and Wr1 is the best combo imo. How does .80 compare to your .86?
