Wolfman price increase?!

I will just say this,  as I I have always said.   Wolf man razors are a joke.    Yes,  they seem great and phenomenal but the man has the worse business knowledge, ever,  period.  I'm a CPA and auditor with many many years of experience and I can smell anything fishy or odd from 10 miles away (right now I'm involved in an investigation of a huge fraud case in a big client here in Puerto Rico).  And I get a funky smell with Wolfman Razors.  Truth always comes out..... copy my words and tell me in a few years If I was right or not.    I know I will have 10000 people bashing me now, but thats ok.    Very odd the way he "takes so much time" on each razor,   which coincidentally increases the price of the razor,  while no other company (artisan)  is facing the same situation.   Many odder things,  but I will leave it at that.   Again,  I know most will disagree with me,  just because you love Wolfman Razors.  I'm not taking that away  and I wished I had one myself,  but that has nothing to do with shady business tactics.

I don't think anything fishy is really going on other than James undercharging for what his razors should be fetching directly from his store. I think most people who have owned a wolfman (I have not myself) have said that wolfman razors have the best finishing of any higher end razors on the market today. I'm sure that takes a good bit of time to get them to where they're at...

Agreed 100%. I don't think anything fishy is going on at all. I don't doubt it takes LOTS of time to get those razors to where they are at for sure. People are paying for an art piece.

I think it is hard to put a value on something without knowing exactly the costs that go into making the product like actual cost of material, purchasing and maintains equipment, and personal time it takes to get a product ready for sale. If seen people throw out that you can get as good of a shave with an $30 razor as you can with a $300 razor but the question I have is can you get the same quality of work from a $250 razors as a $500. What exactly are you paying for? I for one can not make that assent but to think it
Would be interesting if a blinded test was done with a group of machinists and or engineers to see if there is a measurable difference in actual quality,
Craftsmanship, and design.

I have owned one as well but sold it soon after because the razor head was not for me
My question is - is the finish better than Paradigm 17-4? I truly don't remember wolfman's finish so please don't take the question the wrong way.

No, the finish on the WM razor is not better than that of the Paradigm in my opinion. You will get an opposite opinion in the next post I am sure.

Wolfman makes a razor, he sees it fit to charge $500 per razor. He claims that he takes like forever to make a razor.

Ultimately the buyer community will decide if they are in on such a deal or not.

As long as there are buyers of a razor "piece of art" or other wise at a given price, it's a deal.

These are the basis of the capitalist model we subscribe to. If his marketing strategy is to keep people waiting and charge a high price for the razor, as long as there is a wait list at his asking prices, why should anyone have an issues.

It's a question of.YMMV as always. Some people will find please in shaving with a $500 razor due to its snob value, and some will want to shave with a $50 Mamba Razor. I for one subscribe to the RR model of good quality razor at low prices. Even if i had the $$ i perhaps wouldn't buy a Wolfman or perhaps I would, which entirely depends on my RAD and purchase power. I can't say myself.

To each his own. I don't know why should we beat down any vendor or any member for liking or buying an expensive razor.

I was with you until you said 'snob value'... what's snobbish about paying $500 for a beautiful razor if you can afford it?

There are people who can afford and do buy a lamborgini or a rolls Royce too. Going by standards where there are significantly cheaper options for the same purposes, I would classify highly priced anything as - snob value. That's how Oxford dictionary also defines it. Social superiority. Simply put what a 50$ razor can do, one buys a piece of work for $500 - the functionality is the same and again shaves can be YMMV for both!!

Perhaps it's also a left brain, right brain debate. Some would seek and pursue absolute functionality and value over looks or style which is optional to the same basic function. Just my two cents.

Social Superiority or "snob value" is a way of thinking or a state of mind towards society or an activity.
